Finally!

I can't believe it took me to July 1 to get my current year price list online. :headbang: But better late than never, I guess. Sorry about not having that pre-hatching sale I have had the last several years, but I think that may be a thing of the past anyway...

Here's a direct link to the 2008 page on the shopping cart program -> http://www.serpenco.com/shop/customer/home.php?cat=276

Right now I have about 600 babies sexed, set up in containers, and most have taken pinks right off the bat. Only offered live pinks so far, with the first group having taken their fourth meals already. Next time around I'm going to be offering frozen/thawed, which I expect most to readily take to.

Hopefully FedEx won't kill me on shipping charges. I may have to adjust the price upwards from my regular $60 per shipment if I see I am losing money on most shipments going out the door.

Thanks for everyone for the business over the years, and hopefully you'll find something on my list this year that you would like to add to your collection.

Speaking of which, check out the *new* Amber Blood Reds I am selling for the first time this year. Finally got enough hatching out that I can cut some loose and not keep all the darn things...... :)

I"m officially in love with charcoal lavanders! and I love the blood reds too!! but no snows?? :0(

shipping

Have you checked out repster shipping through fedex? last I heard was the other shippers who usually dont ship reptiles want the business also so the prices may even be better!

I read about it a bit, but it seemed to me that it would just put an additional complication in the shipping process. Which is DEFINITELY something I don't need.

I didn't see those on the list.....

Nice list Rich. Looking forward to seeing pics of the amber bloodreds.

The first clutch of them is just now going through their first shed. Looks like they are nice sized chunky babies, so I expect them to go on pinks right off the bat. I've got some video of the clutch, but just haven't had time to process it. As you can likely imagine, a LOT is going on right now.

Feeding, so far, has been excellent with everything I have set up so far. Easily 95 percent are taking pinks at first try. Plus the babies, as an average, seem larger this year. This is the first year I can remember when I would pull the smallest pinky mice I could find that I would be thinking that the pinkies were too small for many of the babies I was feeding.

But it's kind of funny to see many of them getting with the program so quickly and actually taking the pink from the tweezers on the second feeding.

ah.. sorry my mistake..I mean anery lavanders! don't know why I was thinking charcoal..lol..

I can't wait to see a pic or two of the baby amber-bloods. I'll bet they'll turn out absolutely beautiful when they begin to color up. I have this picture in my had of a fairly solid, amber colored corn snake. Purdy!

If you like them, you should see how the Hypo Lavender/Ambers are turning out. Of course, I'm getting a lot of variety in the offspring, so I'm not 100 percent certain what the heck I am really looking at. I just don't trust that Hypo gene for a minute..... :fullauto:

Wish I had time to just take photos and videos all day long.

Rich I could make a trip down and help take photos of all those babies... I'm sure a few others would grab their cams and drive on down too. lol. Of course we would all want some kind of payment... :-D

Sold out?

Hey Rich, currently the list says you are sold out of several corns I was thinking about getting (my want list is a pewter, a golddust or GDmotley, and an amel stripe!). Are they sold out for the whole year, or is it likely that there will be more when you get through the other couple thousand babies? (my mind boggles just typing that!)

I've still got GoldDusts and GoldDust Motleys left. Not producing many Pewters this year (don't really need them since I am producing so many Hypo Pewters these days), and I have several orders that I need to fill later on with Pewters on them. So I marked them (as well as some others) as being sold out so I won't short change those orders.

I may very well have more hatch out later on, but I really hate to have to tell someone I don't have what they ordered.

Been getting a lot of rather large orders lately, so if that keeps up, the numbers on anything can drop to zero at any time. Not that I am complaining! I would LOVE to sell out one year before the Winter months. I can't imagine having a month or two with absolutely NOTHING having to be done with the animals. Well, the mice are still there............ :headbang:

But all in all, even with the economy being so poor, we're doing a lot better than I thought we would with sales so far.

Oh yeah, I need to do something about the shipping charge, however. Just got my latest FedEx bill in and it's an eye opener, to say the least. A large box I sent down to Miami (only from Tallahassee!) cost $100. I hate to see what the same sized box I just sent up to Michigan is going to cost me. So I'm probably going to need to increase the fee for shipping before I lose my shirt.

repster

I think you really should look into repster shipping free shipping boxs and supplys and much cheaper

Perhaps, but I really am not willing to put my business in the hands of a third party that way. Too many sites and businesses have fallen without any warning, and if that were to happen to Repster, where would I be then? I'd have to go through the regimen of establishing my account with FedEx all over again.

No reflection on Repster, of course, but I believe the less people I keep from getting inbetween myself and my customers, the better off I (and them) will be.

I finally did a "nose-counting" physical inventory of the 2008 babies several days ago. So numbers of what I have available should be right on the money.

Still a few later clutches hatching out, but they don't go on the inventory list until they've got about a half dozen meals into them.

But in any event, this is it until the 2009s begin hatching next year.
