Set up for three hatchlings?

i like snakes

Hello
My plan is to house three hatchlings sepertley but use one heat source.
Sort of like a mini stack.
What would be the best way to create a set up like this?
At the minute my one hatchling is one of those fanariums.
A plastic box with lid that the pet shop told me would be great.
I'm sure it would be but it lets to much heat out of the top.

I was thinking a under the tank heat mat that all the tanks were half on half off set up to a thermostat.
Would this work?
What would be the best type of container to use?

Thank you for taking the time to reply.
If you do.

:grin01:

If they are hatchlings~ I'd go ahead and use gladware deli's (with air holes). I'd use an undertank heater with the thermostat just as you suggested~ or if space is an issue stand the heat mat up inside a book shelf and push the stacked deli's up against it so the heat comes in from the side to the stack.

Good luck

Thank you very much. That is very helpfull. And i like the look of your set up, and snakes on your site.

I live in the uk though and am not sure what gladware deli cups are.
Space isn't an issue but using only one plug is.
I want something that will give the young snakes space to roam that is easy to clean ,ventilated ,and yet not to much so.
Any good ideas/stockists and the like from uk peeps?

got to b&q and buy some shoebox size tubs with lockable lids then make airholes with a drill or soldering iron. there £3.50 each thats what i use for all my hatchling corns.

Personally I use 'crystal' tubs, they come in a good range of sizes, and are dirt cheap from wilkinsons and £ stores! I make the ventilation holes myself with a heated up screwdriver :)

Of course there are very good way to use only one heat mat (UTH), liek suggested above, but did you already think about those 'multiple plugs in one house' devices with one connector to go into the wall device? Or do you just not want to use multiple heating devices?

Thank you all.
I have now found suitible containers.
Would have liked to have used seperate heating devices, but this way my flat mates will not think i'm using to much electricity.
Proberly be using around the same amount, but it would look a lot more with three plus plugs.
The probelms flat sharing and having to use pay as you go can throw a young herper.
Of to crystal palace reptiles tomorrow to find my new charges.
So excited I proberly won't sleep. :crazy02:

Good luck with choosing them!

Thank you.
Went looking last week.
They have bloodreds, hypo blood reds, lavender motleys,
And much much else.
So it looks like i may be there some time.
I think it sounds like one of those good problems.

If you wait 'til Darren is back from Houten.................the problem will be even nicer to solve!

He's mostly responsible for the state of my bank balance...........I'm just grateful I could resist the snow leopard geckos so far

Is he a membe ron this forum? He should come to the cornsnake.com gathering around 1:00 pm at mvervests table!

Right almost ready to go.
Put a deposit down on a couple of lovelys which i will pick up tomorrow.
But one last question.
The cool end is at 25 but the warmer end is 84.5 if i put the little probe about an inch off the substrate less if i go higher.
I assume this will be fine as the snakes body will be on the ground, but thought i would double check.
so does that sound ok?
Again thank you for all your help.
