I'm not saying that either. :p Absolutely each one needs to be dealt with on an individual basis. There's no magic solution, no 'silver bullet' as it were. Preventing all crimes is impossible, so it behooves us to maximize the effectiveness of the things we do decide to do about crime and punishment.

Thanks for the insult. Being the intelligent person you are, insulting and belittling must make you feel so good. Let me guess, you were the class bully in grade school too? I did read the thread and what I see is some one who thinks criminals should be rehabilitated and not put to death. That people shouldn't take the law in their own hands. Violence begets violence etc. So see, I did read what you were saying.

Vet, I wonder if you'd like the PA D&D board. I'm a lightweight there. I'm also much nicer than many of the people there who manage to be extremely intelligent, well-informed and persuasive while also being a bunch of big meanies! :D
 
PA is Penny Arcade, the webcomic. The forum there is so populated that it's broken up into topical sub-forums (At any given time there are hundreds, if not thousands of people logged in. A single thread can move 20 pages in under an hour). One of the subforums, the place where I spend most of my time, is Debate & Discourse.
 
Oh, whoa, whoa, before any of you get the bright idea to check it out, make sure you're ready for a forum where sarcastic wit rules, the only banned word is a certain slur for black people and the moderators are not afraid to really mix it up.

Basically, lurk for a looooong time before posting because they can be absolutely merciless.

That's a perfect summation of our revolving door prison system.

I don't think the DP is used enough and absolutely not efficiently enough to be much of a deterrent. If the death penalty was ruled, appealed, and carried out in weeks at a much much lower cost maybe it would be. As it is today the DP is very uncommon so the average criminal knows the punishment is exponentially more likely to be imprisonment and in most cases, with overcrowding and early release, not even true life in prison.

Anthony Sowell is the Cleveland murder case in which he stands accused of raping, abusing, and murdering at least 11 women. Then burying them in his own yard. It is interesting that Sowell's legal team is offering a guilty plea if the death penalty is removed as a punishment?!?! Wonder why?

Tsst, that yanks me, too.
It is my understanding the authorities and 'prosecution' are juggling the death sentence in the Caylee Marie Anthony case in Orlando, Florida. Oh yeah, that and saying there was another killer who planted the body to make it look like mom Casey Anthony did it. Kind of the scenario O.J. was the victim of.

Hey....Now....wait just a minute here. I just remembered, this is my thread. Everybody lighten up, or I'm going to build a big campfire, and have everyone sit around it in a circle cross-legged, holding hands and singing Kumbaya. Now *shudder* nobody wants anything to do with that picture, right?

At a minimum, I'll start with pics of Weedy and Leafy Sea Dragons. :D

I swear, I can't take my eyes off Nova for a minute or I am dealing with an all out brawl. :laugh:

I know some drag queens down the street who take playing dress-up and beauty-shop very very seriously. Especially for holidays and weekends....they take their shizzle and dazzle something fierce and ferocious.

For Nova, "dress-up" (and beauty-shop) it is........ :roflmao:
