Hello,

My corn shed on Feb 6-14, i looked in her viv today and she is "dull" in color again. Is it normal for them to go into a shed a month later. I thouhgt it was every 3 months or so. She is pretty young. She's has no problems eating/drinking or dropping doodies... Please let me know what anyone thinks as it would be much appreciated.

Lots of young, healthy, growing corns shed about oce per month. Not to worry, that means you're taking good care of here and she's growing like she should!

By the way, you may already know this, but once you see she's preparing to shed it's not a bad idea to wait until after her shed to feed her. Some corns regurge if they eat in blue, even if they do it willingly.

Best of luck!

Corns normally shed every 3-6 weeks. If you are feeding a little more aggressively, they could shed more often.

Just to add to what Caryl mentioned. That may not change as the snake grows into an adult. Adult corns, even when they are finished growing, can and will shed every 3-6 weeks. Some can go longer between sheds, but it usually doesn't go away.

Good Luck,

Wayne

My adult actually sheds every 10-12 weeks on average. He still shed every month when he was a baby though. Totally normal OP - they are growing fast when they are young, hence why they shed so often :)

Too-regular shedding can be a sign of injury though, so you did the right thing by asking.

My adult has just started to take a little longer between sheds, a little over a month now on average. Lately it's been 5-6 weeks.

That's interesting, Tracee, maybe mine will start to take even longer. What is monster-boy's weight now?

I don't know, how sad is that; I thought I could use my new scales to weigh him but they're no good and the reptile store I used to get him weighed at has closed down.

I am SURE he's not as meaty as he was at his last weigh in (around 1200g) but it still shocks me when he emerges from burrowing and still looks so BIG!

OMG! That's not BIG, it's HUMONGONORMOUS!

ok now what...lol

Ok so she was blue...like had a tint of blue for like 2 days...and then she returned to vivid colors...that still means she's going to shed?

Their colors normally clear (return almost to normal) shortly before shedding. Not to worry - you'll likely find a clean, freshly shed snake in a couple of days.

 I know. Mr Munson used to say he was a corn x anaconda who ate sheep or horses or something like that! Everyone's corns look so little to me!

I am sure he has lost a little weight over the last year or so but he is still very big.

P.S. Sorry this reply was so late!

Ah, well, that explains everything. Why didn't I think of that on my own? hehehe
