shedding?

i just bought a second baby corn snake. my first one is charcoal and this one is an amel. the girl at the petstore said he was about to shed but i didnt believe her cause he was so smooth. 2 days later to my surprise i get home from work and he had shed his head and part of his neck.

So im wondering if its normal to shed over a long period of time. bit by bit. becuase its been a couple hours and he has been moving around alot. probobly stressed out poor guy.

Ive heard of soaking a towel and leaving him in there for 20 mins or so to soften the skin. but that was if little bits are left on. although he has still a long way to go.

Yes you can wet a towel ,room temp, and let him crawl through it as you hold it. Attempt this a few times until shed is removed.

I just had the same thing happen to mine, you'll more than likely have a few bad sheds in your time with him. When you let him crawl through the towel dont be afraid to close your hand around him holding the towel to help pull it off. Once you think you've got it all of just give him a check to make sure its all off, especially the tip of the tail. Thats an important bit.

It can be very hard to see, i have trouble with Elwood an he's a normal. You guys that own Ghost's need a Medal or something for spotting the bad sheds on them.

In future, try raising the humidity before a shed by creating a humid hide (AKA moist hide) or misting with water.

my cornsnake just shed and his shed was a lot bigger than my snake does this mean that he is going to grow as big as his shed

flipsider: the reason the shed was bigger than him is because it stretches a little when it comes off. eventually, yes he will get that big (if it is still growing, i dont know how old your snake is).
