Shiney snakey

I really want Honduran fire bellys because they are naturally hypermelanistic, but seeing his dark phase has sort of dampened out that flame. Boas seriously rock...

Elle I strongly dislike you right now hahha
I want that female so much!
hahha
want to accidently send her this way?

haha does she have any siblings left for sale? :x

holy crap!! The male got so dark ang gorgeous!?

why though? Will he go back?

(sorry dont know squat about boas, my sister is the one who really loves em)

Nomed you silly moo, this is the males thread. The pictures are all of the same snake LOL LOL! He changes colour depending on his mood and temperature. Boas just do that....

Holy crap!!

Elle you have totally just pushed me over the egde!!!!
haha
I want one of these babes so bad now!
haha
know of any breeders over here that wont charge an arm and a leg?
:]

lol, I also want a burm this spring, hmmm burm or boa??
oh darn looks like ill just need both haha

Well Corn Island boas are still pretty rare in captivity these days. Theres only 2 big breeders I can think of in the states produced litters almost every year and thats Vin Russo (THE boa man) and Rio Bravo reptiles - Thats where Dean got his pair. They are pretty expensive regardless of who you get them from. I was quoted $1000 pr from Vin Russo. Thats about how much I paid for mine.

wow! looks a little out of my price range haha

My sister is getting a dumeril's this April so at least there will be one around the house.

as for me I think im only getting one snake this year (more like hope haha)
You have me wanting a boa
Jen is evil and has made me want a burm for the past year, which Ive done so much research on and know I can take on and have the space for when its older, as long as my collection dosent get big then I
and I want a diamondxjungle carpet python but they are a little hard to get a hold of for an okay price where I am.
An albino ball python would be lovely but too expencive.

*sigh*

maybe I'll just get a few more baby corns and raise them up for breeding lmao

See but you also got a pair, I want just a boy, and I've already priced some of them out. The way I see it I'm willing to buy a bird that lives that long for that much money why not a boid?

EXACTLY Jenn... and boids do live for agesss. It's so exciting to think I will have these for at least 20 years. I wonder what will happen in that time...

Also, I dunno if you saw but I also PM'd you wondering how a 40 gallon breeder would work out as a habitat? Even if it's only temporary (the viv with screen was free) it'd be good to know if it'd last him for a little bit.

Edit: I should point out before you get all excited about converting me Elle that I am looking at this long term though lol. I don't think I'll be getting a new big boid untill Connor is at least here and sleeping through the night.

Oh I'm so sorry I did see it and forgot to reply, I procrastinated... arg.

Urm what are the dimentions of a 40? I dunno what that is. I suppose it would be fine if you were wanting just a male. I would say a 3x2 is fine, but a 4x2 is ideal. I house mine in 3x2 rack tubs which is working great. Brutus (my Bolivian dwarf) is 1.5k and almost 4ft and has tones of space in that box.

The dimensions of the 40 breeder are:
36 3/16 x 18 1/4 x 16 15/16

So not quite 3x2 but like I said even if it's only temporary time to find him a bigger home, it was free.

A burm wouldn't be my first choice, I could have 2.3 corn isle boas in the space a burm would take up LOL

lmao I hear ya!!

A burm is basically the only snake I want for a while that I can afford, sure housing will cost a lot, as will feeding it. Plus its a dangerous snake to keep, but I know I will be able to do it as long as I dont let myself get 83234835 other snakes and get over my head. I'm going to stick with the little ones I have now and then a burm and I'll be set for a long time. Sure maybe down the road I'll get another small snake thats not that hard to care for that I can afford.

this is all if I end up getting a burm haha
