Shipping snakes in Europe

Hello!

I know that in USA is common to ship snakes but how does it work in Europe?

I will go to take my first corn by car because the breeder it is not really far, but in Slovenia you can't find all the nice morphs. Anyway I will not buy another snake right now. I'm joust curious :)

For what I know most europeans just drive to pick up their snakes from Hamm or Houten reptile snows for example. Most breeders will go to either show anyway, so the pick up can be arranged fairly easily.

Shipping snakes (or any live animals) is illegal at least in Sweden. In Finland we can send snakes and other small animals (not cats or dogs) by bus, but that's only in Finland. None of the couriers I know around here (DHL, UPS etc) will take animals. I don't know what kind of transporter would one have to use to ship snakes from Finland to Slovakia for example, but as we're in Europe I bet the shipping costs would be HUGE. It's an international shipping so it'll cost much much more than national shipping in USA.

So I suggest you keep checking the reptile show dates in Hamm and Houten. ;)

Ok thanks, I have to go to some shows
hm...Hamm it is 1.000 km and 11 hours of driving away from my home... :)
Now I have to convince my boyfriend to go there for holidays :D

..... good idea ;)... germany has some nice places..! :p
here in germany are some companys wich are specialized in sending reptiles and pets... but I don't know how its regulated when the animals will shipped over the borders..?!

We just had a friend from Slovenia stay here with us after he went to the show in San Diego. He told us that there are not many herpers in Slovenia, and it is difficult to ship. So he goes to the Hamm shows to sell his geckos a few times per year, and to shop for whatever he wants. Perhaps you could get together, and pay him to transport something for you?

kathylove that will be great. My BF wasn't happy of the idea to go to Hamm (BTW we love Germany and we already visit a few different city and really enjoy it and we have friends in Germany), but because of of the show... .

BF: 'You speak only about snakes!' :realhot: :nope:
Me: :uzi:

The show it is in September...may be he will change his mind :)
:bird:

If you want to send me your name and email address, I will send it to my friend. If you don't want to post it on the forum, you can message it to me.

Or try the German Snakeday at Bad Fallingbostel .
Hamm = 250km drive for us from Belgium
Bad Fallingbostel = 450 km for us , so maybe 200km's less (one way) for you ??
