Shipping to Europe

Have any of you shipped to Europe? Germany or Holland for example. Did you fly with your reptiles as well? Explain your experience shipping or flying. What airlines did you like. What costs did you have?

Thx. Chet

I have only exported animals for sale but I would think you need to give a little more info in order to get the proper response. As in: Are you shipping the snakes to a buyer or are they pets moving with you to a new home. The shipping "might" be similar whereas the reception at your destination could be quite different.
US Fish and Wildlife Service documents need to be filled out and the animal can NOT be on the CITES lists. The only airline that I know of that ships reptiles is Delta (Delta Dash) and you must be certified, which I recently heard they are not doing any new clients. So that would leave you with going through a certified exporter like Glades Herp or some other person that already has a permit. The animals must also go through a Wildlife Inspection Port. There is a list on the Fish and Wildlife Services web page. If you are selling the animals there are import costs as well based on the declared value of each animal.
Someone like Brian from BHB or Jeff from JMG Reptiles who regularly do European shows might be helpful in knowing the ins and outs of the system. Plus sometimes you can piggyback on an export shipment that is already going to say the Hamm Show if space is available.

Thanks Terri.

I guess I'll follow up with Delta and try and contact Jeff and Brain. I am just looking to get informed more for shipping to a buyer or vice versa, getting something from Europe. I got fedex certified which was a little bit of a pain in the but, but ultimately not that bad. I did some dog stuff in the past in/out of Germany and it wasn't bad. No quarantine, just needed a certificate of health from vet and a few other doc's and pay the air line baggage fee. I was hoping snakes were similar and I was wondering if others have done it or knew the process.

If/when I find out, I'll update this thread for others. Anyone one else has info please post.
