Fall has come to Wisconsin! I was out this afternoon and saw some sure signs of it.

I saw a nice family of Turkeys, but of course, they saw me first. Even so I was able to get a quick shot of the straggler of the group.

Eastern Garter Snakes were on the move from the fields to the highlands. I heard them rustling through the leaves all day today.

Garter snake: "hey down there, is it spring yet?"
Me: "sorry buddy, no, it's just a nice fall day, enjoy it while you can"

Beautiful pictures. It was a gorgeous warm day up here, too! I only found a dead garter yesterday, though.
 
Really cool shots of the garters. Cool how you have trained your ear to listen for them and what not. Never thought to use that, "sense" during this time of year to find em'.

Last time up to Massachusetts (mid-August), I saw a group of turkeys just like that off a highway exit ramp just chilling together. First time I ever saw them. Had no clue they were so common in the wild up north.
 
Nice pics! I haven't seen a wild snake in FOREVER. Well, I guess I found a pine woods snake while digging around my foundation this spring.
