I have a silver queen female corn that is 100% het for snow and is proven this year in 2 clutches.My question is are the silver queen genes dom or could they be hets? The clutches she dropped had several silver queens in the first clutch but only 1 in her second clutch.I do not want to pass on the incorrect info of which i have not.I am still a little confused on the corn snake genetics lol.Thanks for any replies
 
I believe that silver queens are a selectively bred variety of ghost (hypomelanistic A anerythristic), just like candy canes are a selectively bred variety of amel. Breeding a silver queen to another silver queen gives you the best chance of producing more silver queens, but does not guarantee it. They will all be ghosts, but perhaps not silver queens. When breeding your female to anything other than a silver queen, you should just consider her genetics like any other ghost. You may produce silver queen offspring, but your chances have greatly decreased.

Susan,thanks for the reply.I just did not want to think some of the other offspring could have been het for silver queen lol.
 
Susan is correct. Silver queens are selectively bred ghosts. Not really anything to add there. :)
