Siren: 08 Sorong chondro progression!

She sure retained a lot of her yellow Elle. Are you sure she's pure Sorong and doesn't have some Biak in there? She's just beautiful.

Some more of Siren, shed about 5 minutes before this :)

She is truly stunning. But you know what I don't understand? She hatched out BRIGHT yellow. How is that a survival characteristic for wild baby chondros? Wouldn't predators be able to see them with that color??

Yellow and red (the two colors chondro babies are) are colors that are not seen well by birds and other predators. They also resemble many of the flowers found in tropical jungles. Once they attain size, hiding is not as important but the green is a camoflage later. I'm not convinced that your girl is pure Sorong Elle. She's certainly not the typical coloration. She appears more Biak than Sorong but I can see that she's not quite done changing either.

I would wholeheartedly agree with you Meg. Shes just too yellow to be fully Sorong. But thats the thing with chondros, you can never tell with locales based on appearances alone. They are only types and can only be labeled as such if they are plucked straight from that specific locale or bred from a lineage which is known to be directly from a specific area.

The fact that she is taking her sweet time to complete the change is also another wee indicator. Biaks take an awful lot longer than Sorongs to change.

I'm delighted with her whether shes a Sorong, Biak or Glitterbumfluff chondro. Shes my sweet little green dragon snake and is exactly what I always wanted :) Trust me to get the sweetest chondro on the planet!

Thanks for the explanation, Meg!

Glitterbumfluff???? Is this a new locale I know nothing about?? :) You're lucky to have a tame Biak. My Biak outcross is all right but my pure Biak is pure H-E_double toothpicks. She actually will ball up like a ball python and then strike at everything that comes her way. Now Miss T....that's another story...she's my sweet baby girl!

Ohhh I wouldn't go as far as to call her a biak. I don't really know what to call her. Indeed she is just my wee green dragon snake that sits on a stick :)
