Snake dealer

I've heard of these snake "dealer"s that sell for other people for a profit. Do they make profit? Is anyone here a "dealer"?

Lots of us breed and sell corn snakes, theoretically for a "profit." I don't think anyone is getting rich off of them, or fleecing the buying public if that's what you mean by "dealer, though.

To the best of my knowledge no, wholesalers or dealers as you called them are not making a whole lot of money either. They are probably not in the hole as bad as those of us that breed but they still have to purchase the snakes they sell along with feed and care until they do sell. Unfortunately the corn snake market is fairly poor right now so they have to sit on their babies for a while just the same as we are.

Flippers usually buy tons of extra stock at rock bottom prices and try to resale right away. I don't even see the appeal there, but some folks are doing it at most every show.

Totally unrelated, but...

Whenever I pick up a snake, I usually end up parked in some corner of a parking lot with the car running (for heat or AC) and 2 people in the car. It looks realllllly shady. I keep waiting for a cop to come up.

If a cop ever comes to check on us as we're waiting to pick up a snake, I plan to say the following:

"Yeah, our dealer's coming to provide us with Snake. You want us to cut you in on this?" *shows snake in deli cup* :dgrin:

I am so thankful non of my snake transactions went down like that. Then again 90% of my snake transactions were online so I just had to wait in FedEx parking lot for them to get the shipment.
