It doesn't matter what you do but here are some basics that you need to have:
An under-tank heater (sold as heat mats or heat pads) to cover 1/3 or so of the bottom of the tank. Heat tape is fine but most prefer heat mats. They don't use much energy and tend to be safer than heat tape if your thermostat s up or isn't there at all.
Hides at warm and cold side of tank
Water bowl on cold side
Aspen is the prefered bedding choice
Snakes like to climb - vines, branches
Very secure top/lid. if you aren't confident in your locks weigh it down with rocks or books.
Thermometer with probe to measure substrate temp on warm side
85f temp for warm side, 75f temp for cold side - ideally. You can stray from these temps within 5 degrees safely.
