Snake Hides?

katieam

S for Sam!
Ok, So my corn snake has outgrown his half coconut hides. He is about 4 1/2 feet long and 20g grams. Can anyone recommend a better hide for him? I really don't want to buy those plastic hampster igloos, but thats the only thing I've found big enough. I can't seem to find anything else that's reasonably priced. What do you guys use?

Thanks.

I use cool whip and butter tubs with holes cut in them and then cover them with silk vines so it doesn't look so ghetto and they like to coil up on top and hide in them which is cute. Are you sure your snakes is 4 1/2 feet and only 20 grams or did you mean 200?

Oh lol I meant 208 grams! Sorry. And I honestly never though of using those, that would be the perfect size.
He is wearing those coconut halves like hats now, poor guy.

This may sound a little whacky.....

but for my larger snakes, 4ft plus, I use ferret litter pans from PetSupermarket. About the size of a painters pan but there is a cut out for the ferrets to enter the pan. It makes a perfect opening.

Mine enjoy super expensive, ultra chic cereal boxes. They're available in a wide range of sizes and colors to suit your taste - bad pun intended.

You should post a photo of your snake with its coconut hat!

Ahahahah nice. I'm pickier about stuff I put in his tank. Since I only have one, I can afford to be. :D

I'll try to get a picture :)

Ah, an "only snake" parent. If you like the natural look, you might find some interesting rocks and hot-glue them into a position that provides hiding spots. The glue keeps them from shifting and potentially hurting your baby. The snakes seems to enjoy rocks, and they come in just about any color you could want. If you like that idea but don't have rocks you like, check out a gem and mineral show.

I'd like to see that coconut hat pic too!!

My snakes live the ghetto chic life.... mac&cheese boxes, cereal-type...toilet paper rolls...the larger paper towel types for the older ones... it saves on clean up... no washing or de-germing.. just throw them away!

Ya gotta love a snake head sticking out of a Pop-tart box...:crazy02:

I crush down the bigger boxes to make it seem more cozy...heck some really liked the old cig carton boxes..but alas... no more ..

Just stick with hatchlings. My baby does a fine job of hiding in the bedding!

Glad you asked, because I got some ideas for later.
