Snake keeping- my bastion of sanity

Kokopelli

Resident Boa Fanatic
Today perhaps more than ever I thank God that I started keeping snakes.
I don't feel as though I am the most unfortunate person in the world. Not even close, but... life has been a bit hard.
My parents divorced and it ended only in a court of law... and not on the best of terms. My brother got a divorce 2 years after he got married because his wife became insane(I mean literally, she's taking pills and became very unstable, even violent)... and they have an adopted daughter.
My sister has Multiple Sclerosis... and for the past few years she managed to deal with it... but yesterday...
yesterday her husband was diagnosed with severe cancerous growths in the stomach... it already spread to numerous organs and the prognosis is not too optimistic.
They have 3 small kids... My sister also lost her father to war before she was born. She is my "half" sister, but she's been the best big sister one could hope for.

There are all sorts of daily difficulties to deal with...
Well, I am not writing this down to whine, but just really say that keeping snakes seems to be the only thing that keeps me sane, that allows me to go through the day and actually smile.

I am not sure we all appreciate what we get from it- even though the snakes don't exactly "give" anything to us. I think that in some way, they do still.

Sorry if this seems like a rant, that wasn't my intention

I am sorry for what your family is going through. Our pets, whether scaley, furry, or feathered, are so often a blessing in hard times. I am glad yours bring you comfort.

Best regards,
sonja
