Snake Names

Our Banded King is "Konig" and the Snow Corn is "Smoky". Their prior owner named them and we just kept the names.

My new baby, a Common Corn, is called "Gaia". It means Mother Earth Spirit or Spirit of Earth. I though that was a fitting name for a snake.

I only have two corns right now(though i'm trying to convince my mom into buying this adorable snow i saw at our local herp shop)....

Serg- 2006 Sunglow - named him after a character in a book...liked the name and i think it fits him.

Kuro- 2006 Miami - name means black in japanese...just like it

Other Snakes...

Nyxx- 2006 Ball Python - means night, but also is the name of the greek goddess of the night

Divana- 2005 Dumeril's Ground Boa - got it from the serbian name Divan which means "beautiful" and Divana is beautiful...i just added the extra "a" to make it sound more like a girl name

Maeve- 2006 Albino Cali King - named from one of my favorite books, Maeve in the book is a white viper...and when my Maeve get big she'll be white(with yellow bands) too...plus i just really like the name too

Anjay- 2006 Nelson's Milk - named from the same book as Maeve only Anjay in the book was a black king cobra not a white viper...again like the name

Jager- 2006 Kisatchie - named after a vampire in the books In the Forests of the Night and Demon in My View...since him and and the Jager from the book have almost the same personality

Past Snakes.....

Terra- 2006 normal corn - name means "earth" or "of the earth"....and i thought it fit since she was a snake ~RIP Terra~

Jaiden- 2006 BP - names means "of the angels" or something really close to that ~Rip Jaiden~

Syfka- late 2005 Yellow Rat - name came from the book FalconDance just always liked the name ~RIP Syfka~

I always find it wierd/interesting when new members find and post on really old threads that haven't been posted on in years...

In re: Mrs Muir, female ghost het amel motley 2005... Old enough to remember the movie? (I don't know how to do it the way you do so I just copy/paste.)

I must tell you the the Ghost and Mrs. Muir is my favorite love story. I need a box of tissues each time I see it.

Now you need to get a Ghost and name him Captain.

Everyone is saying that this is an old thread, did I miss something somewhere. The date on the first message I read was something like 021207.

How unusual it is for humans to give their non-human charges (I don't want to say 'pets') names that mean something special to the humans but the charges go about their day to day life as if there is nothing unusual happening? Or, do you think they are aware of the special place they have in our lives?

Yep, I just noticed that. In my defense I must say I am on vacation. When I am on vacation my brain turns to mush. High stress job and all.

I am still learning how to navigate the web site so forgive me when I subject you all to my "brain deadness".

:crazy02: :spinner:  :crazy01: :wavey:

Okay, that enough of that. See what I mean, mush.

Hey, it wasn't me that started this.
It was Sneakmonkey42.
Now I feel better. I though I needed glasses along with a brain scan.

But I guess we can call it "Recycling".

LMBO! I wasn't saying you started it all over again. I was just letting you know why some were talking about this being an old thread....LOL

No problem. I thought I was the one that started it. Vacation = mush.

What does LMBO mean?

Does LOL mean 'lots of love' or 'lots of luck'?

That's the plan :)

I think there's something to gain in reviving old threads. Many new members haven't seen them; older members have forgotten what was said. In this case, many of us hadn't shared our snake's names with the forum. This seems the proper place to do it.

I realize that my snakes have no idea what their names are, but I'm okay with it. The names keep favorite memories alive and help me bond with the snakes.

And for quoting, hit the "quote" button down in the corner, rather than the reply button. You can also quote by cut-and-paste: just put a left bracket followed by the word "quote" followed by a right bracket at the beginning of what you are quoting, and left bracket slash "quote" right bracket after the end. To have the quote include the name of the person being quoted, start with left bracket "quote=username" right bracket at the beginning.

Like this.

i think it's better the dig up an old thread about names than to have five or 6 different threads. It's also kind of interesting to read posts form years ago....

I liked the idea of referring to my snake by what is normally a last name, cause I don't know if she is actually female. It doesn't really matter either way because she is a pet and not for breeding, but I thought it was kinda fun.

Anyways, I named her Tolmie, after a tiny mountain near the university. For some reason, it just fit? I almost named her Finnerty, but Tolmie fit better.
Finn will likely be my next snake.

My sister wanted me to name her Smaug, after the dragon in the Hobbit, (he's red and long like a snake, and also from the hobbit, which is a sweet book)
but Smaug was evil. I thought it might be bad mojo or something, lol.
(We named something else after smaug instead.)
