By the way to seriously answer your question mine don't really play all they do is hide and try to find ways out... So the best thing to do is find them creative hides and things to climb on that they like...
Sticks from outside carry a lot of parasites but I know there is a dis infecting method which involves bleach and I think baking..I'm not sure on the details but I'm sure someone else can explain it more thoroughly..
Give it more hides and then it wont be as nervous! As stated you can use toliet paper rolls, or butter boxes, or jello boxes, or any number of other household items.
Sticks you find are often a good choice. Be sure they're not pine or cedar, and do disinfect. Wash with soapy water and rinse. If the stick will fit in the oven, I bake it at 200 for half and hour. If it won't, a 10% solution of chlorine bleach will kill any nasties. Just be sure to rinse THOROUGHLY after using bleach solution.
Something my 4 month old cornsnake Cisco likes to use that I got him is a Jungle Vine made or put out by Exo Terra. Man Cisco just goes up and down it and back and forth also. I just got the "Fine" one bent it in half then gave it a twist.
Well. I am going to get my dad to build a little wooden house, with a few little plexi glass windows, and a latch that you can lift up to get the snake out. I saw it in some one elses corns cage. It looked awsome.
Yes, you can use sticks from outside. Just bake them in the over for 10 to 15 minutes on 300 F. It will kill any bugs and things that could hurt your snakey.
