New Avatar!
...I just started my new job at the Larimer Humane Society. Unfortunately the scheduler decided I needed 39 hours a week, and I have a second job too. So while I may be pulling in some cash, I will be very busy.

It is an interesting job but is mostly custodial-type work that involves lots of feces....yuck.

Try washing cat litter pans for 3 hours straight in a small cramped room with an oven going on a 90 degree day.....

Anyways, I am meeting a lot of cool animals and most of the kittens could make your heart melt.

We are a kill shelter so I do meet quite a few condemned animals and animals held on charges of killing. Very sad, but it is life.

I just hope I help some along the way:)

Congrats on the new job :)...It's a shame that animals have to be put to sleep like that :0( it's really sad..Does your place on euthanize the unadoptable pets or does the place have a time period that the animals need to be homed by?

Better off in doggy/kitty heaven than in a home that can't afford them or wandering the streets. I hope you enjoy your new job!

Congrats on the new job. My daughters have volunteered at our local humane society shelter for 3 years now. It too is a kill shelter. They would love to get a permanant job there but there are no openings. I think it takes a very special person to be able to work in a place that has to do the necassary job of humanely taking care of animals that for various reasons are in a situation that probably could have been avoided if thier people parents took proper care of them.
Again congrats and good luck!

Thanks you guys for the wishing of luck! I am pretty exhausted already, but hopefully things will become easier as I learn the routine better! :)
