Okay, I don't know how else to put it... Sam's a total asshole. He's a super rattly snake, he rattles when he sees things, when he eats, literally at everything. He likes to torment the cat, crawling back and forth and teasing him when he walks by. If he gets put down somewhere, he bites if someone tries to pick him back up.

Is he not socialized enough? The guy at the local reptile store said almost all corns are really sassy when they're young and calm down when they're older. Is it his personality and nothing to be worried about? I'm really curious.

Some babies are more scared or "sassy" than others an then they become more personable. Some snakes are just buttholes.

how old is he?
if he's still a hatchling then yes, most babies want nothing to do with being picked up, they think your going to try and hurt them.. just keep handing him! he'll more than likley grow out of it, and make sure that if he's being a but, and biting you still.. make sure you don't put him back tell he stops and is calm, end things on a good note!

I hope he turns around for you.. :)

I have an adult that always does that, he will let me hold him once in a while though. He thinks hes a rattlesnake. Lol

It sounds to me like he is really afraid, and doesn't trust you. You need to win him over with kind, gentle treatment.

My snake is a year old.. and still is a 'rattle'snake!
He was at the breeders already. all his brothers just sit there, and he was rattling when i went over to pick him up..

He just had not got a lovable caracter :(
