What are peoples opinions on keping more than 1 orn in the same tank, i know youo have to seperate to eat, and as i want to make sure to feed out of the viv thats not a problem, but do Corns actually get any benefit from having another shame for company or do they pretty much just ignore eachother. Also would it be better to have 2 males, 2 females or without brumation can you have 2 mixed together without risk of breding (im not really interested in breeding just curious about socialism between snakes )

I'm a new to keeping corns, I bought my first seven months ago. In the research that I've done I have found that corns are shy and don't like to share the living space. I don't think it's a good idea keeping them together.

In general , cohabitation of snakes is known to cause stress in the animals , thus weakening their immune systems over time or leading to stress related factors such as not eating. Though some people certainly do house their animals together with no problems, it is a risk for quite a few different reasons, and anyone choosing to do it should be very knowledgable about snakes behavior to be able to notice signs of problems.

Sorry if its a repeat i did look back a page or 2 and didnt see anything, i did not know of the exact phrase to search on. Ill know not to post in future untill i have tried a few search phrases i guess :sidestep:

No worries, as others said, do a search for "cohabitation" and similar phrases. There are enough threads to keep you busy for days.

I can save you the trouble, though, and sum them all up: DON'T DO IT. Whatever "benefits" it might get are not worth the risks. Don't even mess with it; if you want two snakes, get two cages, if you can't get two cages then don't get two snakes; as simple as that.

I've noticed that pet stores keep many things together in large groups that shouldn't be (snakes...fish). I'm pretty sure its because "they will sell the stock quickly enough, and there won't be a problem" or they are just willing to accept the losses because they will just make up the money when they sell the ones that are still alive.

IMO so many fish are cramped into spaces they shouldn't be in. One reason why so many people end up overstocking their tanks. Has anyone seen how many salt water fish are jammed into some tanks? My goodness...

Yeah, keep in mind that pet stores are there to make money. That doesn't always mean that they have the best interest of the animals in mind.
