Some Advice - Possible Difficult Decision

jenneses

Confuzzled
I've been considering selling some of my collection for various reasons. One of the major reasons is the possibility of losing my job (this isn't definite, but some behind the scene things are making it a possibility that my company may go out of business or down-size). If I do lose my job, I'd probably be moving back in with my mother or try to find a roommate situation. Moving into one small room with 23 snakes (7 of which are boas) and 2 rabbits just isn't feasible. Also, by selling off some of my collection I could use the money to pay off some credit cards and reduce my bills overall. I'm just conflicted on what to do...

There are some other reasons why I'm thinking of selling. Moving into a smaller species (hognose) and snakes that aren't part of breeding plans, but these are minor and don't force a decision "right now". The main concern is the one I raised above. I know my mom hates snakes, but she's okay with the colubrids (sort of), but she is terrified of the boas (though there is no way Apollo or my hog island girls are going anywhere).

Do I wait until I know I have to, or do I do it now while I have time to make sure I can sell them for my asking price?

Sell........ There isn't a right time to do things if we are about to sink....
Sell now and repent in leisure if it was a wrong decision... The other way round isn't as nice... I assure you....

I think I'd sell now. You have the time and space to make arrangements for your animals that will see them in good homes that you'll be comfortable with when you look back. If you leave selling until you're forced to, then you might have to do everything in a rush and you could end up with a permanent worry about where your animals went.

With fewer animals to care/pay for, the ones you do sell with the right people and a chunk off your credit card bills, that has to be a good outcome. Even if you don't lose your job, it still seems that you'd have a weight off your mind if you sold some now.
