So ya, I was talking to this girl about snakes. She just got 4 corns recently, a florescent, lavender, butter, and creamsicle. I told her "Oh wow, creamsicles are great! I love how they get bigger than corns because they're hybrids". She didn't know they were hybrids. which was great[sarcasm], because she was planing on breeding them (I know some have strong opinions on hybrids, but it's generally all agreed to be aware they are hybrids and sell them as such).

But she did know it was going to get bigger than a corn, it was going to get "15 FEET!"

Uh, no. I can't even imagine the look on my face, dealing with such idiocy. How do you own a snake not know the VERY BASICS? How to do you *work in a freaking pet store* and think your creamsicle is going to get 15 feet long?! And I didn't give her attitude or anything trust me I'm just venting here. I told her nicely that I really didn't think was going to get that big, as the largest colubrids get maybe 8 feet.

Ah well, I guess it's all moot because she already lost it.
:awcrap:

(same girl who had her ball python in a tank with one hide, which was on an unreasonably hot heater. I don't know how hot, as she didn't have a thermometer, but that snake was WAY too warm when I took it out. She said "ya, I was told he needed another hide", "Well, maybe you should do that now?!" which she did, and poor thing zipped right in the cool hide as soon as is it was back in the tank)

Is there any excuse when resources like this site exist? Really?

No, there's no excuse for things like that, and I can understand why you vent.

Even if she didn't have a computer or the internet, there are numerous books that she could have ordered via the pet store/local book store, or she could go to the library and use the computers there.

Some people just go through life just drifting their way through. Sounds like this girl is one of them.

You did the right thing in trying to help her, but some people just won't listen.

All the best

David
