ill get them in the mourning before work check back around noon -one . i have been having a hard time getting mine to eat well. yesterday it ate great but today not so well. what diet do you recommend i have reared starlings and pigeons with success but never messed with these guys.

I used raw steak mince and chopped hard boiled eggs as well as mealworms. Their parents rear them on huge numbers of caterpillers, which obviously I had no chance of collecting, it was some years ago now but all 9 fledged!

my larry bird did not make it through the nite. :( i was feeding him a mixture of fish cat food crickets and sun flowers seeds but he was very hard to feed. i had to force feed him from day one.

Ah, I'm sorry to hear that. The reason I've always reared fledglings on raw steak and boiled egg is to give the high protein they need.

i had raised all my other birds on a combination of bird seed and dog food, but i switched to cat because of it being higher in protein if he would had made it longer i may had tried that for him sounds like a great diet.

It's hard raising really small baby birds though, I probably lost about a quarter of them over the years. Once they've got some feathers they've got more of a chance. At least you tried your best shot instead of just leaving it

he eventually grew up and i set him free but he wouldnt leave the top of my house he slept there and every time i went outside he would fly down to greet me. it was the craziest thing. it would follow me around constantly.

I once, when I was around 13, watched a mother Robin after a TERRIBLE rain storm pushing her brand newly hatched babies all out of the nest. Likely, because they had been exposed to bad environmental conditions and were beginning to show signs of failing.
Instead of letting them die, I went over and picked up these four little bald things off the ground and took them home.

Long story short, after every single expert told us "They won't make it. Newly hatched birds never make it, they fell s long way, and Robins are hard to rear", blah blah blah, we raised them to adulthood and built a temporary aviary where we taught them to fly and hunt (with the help of about 300 dollars worth of nite crawlers lol)
I have to say, raising those stinky babies to adulthood and releasing them was one of my proudest moments. Unfortunately, I haven't had a successful bird raising since =/
I'm a TOTAL sucker for the fallen baby birdies, and my dog seems to like to find them and then go get me, too. Last year I ended up with three injured freaking baby birds all because my terrier, well, terrier-ed.
Fuuuuuuuun *sarcasm font*
