It's Jager time!
I'm finally loving the idea of keeping spidies as "pets". I adore my big red rump (B. vegans) lass Supernova, although she would rather hide from me LOL. I don't know if I could say my irrational fear of spiders is cured, in fact it's not. I still go on a mad screamy squishing mission when I see spidies around the house.

I'm enjoying working with the slings. So much so, that I have another 6 arriving on Saturday LOL.

Both slings readily eat cricket thighs which makes my life so much easier. I only need to use one cricket a week to feed 3 spidies, it's so inexpensive and my wee box of crix are still alive after 6 weeks :dancer:

I ordered new spidie pots for the arboreal slings I'm gettin (A. sp "purple peru") and my bohemi and rosea needed moving up from their tiny sling pots anyways, so I snapped some pictures during moving day.

Heres Kalypso, Brachypelma bohemi in his/her new tub. "uh yeah this is new"

i have a pink toed tarantula and they are the coolest thing, they hurt so much to get bit by tho, feels like bee sting my butt....im also scared by spiders in the house its really wierd how i can have a pet one and not be scared of it...
 
I don't plan on getting bitten by any of the spidies. I'm not a hands on keeper. I'm quite happy to lookie and no touchie.
 
yea from every book and website after website ive read they say dont handle them but i have to try my luck.....
 
I'm contemplating getting one or two turantulas or scorpions.

Scorps are a little diff with the venom ratings. Like the flat rock scorp is rate N (sub)50 meaning about the equivalent of 20 bee stings and 2 stings can be fatal.

Um, the Flat Rock scorpion is actually not that bad. I've been stung by a flat rock and I must say....it was like being stung by one Bee...only weaker. Not to mention the Flat Rocks aren't real quick to sting....:crazy02:

I had scorps for a year or so. They are deffinatley no fun compared to tarantulas.
 
I couldn't deal with true spiders. And I hate tarantulas that don't look fluffy ie most OW terrestrial spidies like lividium... I just don't fancy owning a pet hole full of the face sucking she devil herself LOL.

I like T's when they are fluffy and fuzzy and colourful and lovely. yup...
 
Congrats on the new spiders!!! I'm big into tarantulas. I've been into them for about 7 years. I'm just now starting to get back into snakes.

Awesome! They are so cute. I finally got brave and held the rose hair T at work Friday. It was a really cool experience. You'll have to make this a progression thread so we can watch them grow.
 
Really cool spidies. I'm pretty phobic of all insects, so I can't see myself ever getting one but I appreciate their beauty.
 
I will deffinatley keep you guys up to date on their progress. I think they are both about to moult, they have been eating very week for weeks now but are no longer interested and both have went a much duller colour... time will tell.
