I hope you like everything =D

Seems like the right price for all that, although I my hides are still just cardboard

I currently have a mini UTH, when I bought it the box was really big, and I was expecting this huge UTH and then it when I opened it, it was smaller then my hand.

Still heats up a pretty large part, and I put the hide on top of the source of the heat, so it's alright whenever it needs to digest, I also have a Ceramic heater for my scorpions but some heat reaches my snake as well which keeps it at the right temps.

In mexico we are like 200centigrades and lower in the morning so I guess it won't be a problem not using it... I can get it but I thought it wouldn't be necessary

1) Do purchase a rheostat/thermostat. You risk your animals life by not having some sort of temperature controller. UTH's can get well over 100F when uncontroled.

2) Return those cheap thermometers/hygrometers. They aren't accurate and only monitor ambient temperature. At the very least purchase a digital thermometer.

Please get the right stuff..

The hides are find and the log fixture decor is good to..but you really need to get a thermostat or rheostat to control your UTH..It NEEDS it in order to ensure the safety of your snake..a UTH uncontrolled can reach extremely hot and dangerous temps for your snake..Also you need to return that thermometer/hygrometer and buy a thermometer with a probe..they sell them at petsmart just look in the reptile section..the one near me sells 2 different kinds..Might be different at yours..if they don't sell a thermometer with a probe then you could always go to wal-mart and get a cheap one there or reptilesupply.com always has them available..but you need a thermometer with a probe so that you can put the probe under the substrate on top of the uth so you know what your snake is feeling when it's lying there...Good luck and hope this helps..

Yeah a digital Thermometer is a must. I use a Thermostat on my UTH. If you prefer the rheostat there is a post somewhere in the forums that shows you how to make one for really cheap and they work better than the bought ones. The tree is nice. I have a similar one and mine loves it.

A probe is necessary? I didn't find any probe thermometer in there.... and the hydrometer can be whatever I want? or a special hygrometer

Becareful

In the top picture, you purchased a gray fake tree hide, I just found out this week if you have a hatchling they can get up in it and you can't get them out, and you can't feel anything abnormal. I thought I lost mine because of this and floured my house set out tape traps etc.... instead I have dog, and kitty flour footprints all over my wood floors. As soon as he comes out I am sealing that puppy.

Also, because you do live in mexico, the last thing you need is an unregulated UTH with real tempatures soaring high, it'll make your tank tempatures seem worse than they already are if it's running full power.

hey shannon thx for telling me that. should I remove that tree? or just take more care
I go buy the regulator today and a good thermometer

Don't need to get rid of it, just either fill the holes with aquarium sealant, or leave it out until the snake is FAR too big to fit in the whole (then wait till it gets a little bigger yet!).

The reason probe thermometers are so much better is that they measure the temperature exactly where you NEED to measure it...at the warmest spot the snake can reach. I dare say your snake won't be spending much time stuck half-way up the glass on the back of the tank, but it WILL dig down and lay right on top of the glass over the UTH. IF you don't know that it's too hot for it, you can't regulate it properly, and unfortunately, your snake might not realize it is too hot until it has become injured, perhaps fatally. Conversly, if it's too cool, it won't be warm enough to properly digest it's Mouseburger, and will end up throwing up (regurge) which is equally detrimental.

I noticed that it looked like there was something packaged in with the UTH, or was it just a fake rock sitting on top of it in the picture? IF that is a 'hot rock' that plugs in, take it back. Those things are notoriously bad for snakes.

You are welcome

No problem, I unfortantly found out the hard way, the hole is a lip that feels like it is just a seam but it isn't, it allows them to go to the top part of the tree. Mine is still in there I am waiting for him to come out so I can seal it.
