I asked this in the chat, but I got mixed messages and nothing really clear that put my mind at ease.

Aspen shavings are tricky to come by at times, and I dont really like shavings. I'd love a planted terrarium for my soon-to-be snake but I'm told they dont' do well with dirt/sand? (not to mention I suck at keeping plants alive).

I was thinking then of, for when the snake's old enough, Yesterday's News litter pellets. They look like guinea pig food and are recycled newspaper. Very absorpent, literally no smell and little dust. They break up in water instead of swell so if there's accidental injestion, its' easier to pass.

But I can't find a clear answer on if it's safe for snakes. :shrugs:

What's your guys' call? I love YN and it would make it convenient for me as all my other critters use it, but if its' dangerous, then I will not use it.

Yeah. you just can't burrow in it. But I'm fairly certain I can find a few good hidey holes for the snake when I pick him/her out.

I can't wait. I still gotta dig out and set the tank up. luckily I have two months at least (Unless a good deal emerges in the meantime) to set up.
