Someone told me it was OKAY to use small animal aspen bedding for snakes. I'm talking about aspen shavings that are used for animals like guinea pigs, or hamsters, or mice... Is it REALLY okay to use small animal aspen shavings for my snakes?

Aspen is a great substrate for snakes....most keepers use it. I use it on all my snakes - its great.

Yeah, I figured. But I wasn't sure if small animal aspen shavings were any different than aspen shavings that are "intended" for snakes.

I don't like the snake-specific aspen so much. I prefer the small animal aspen- it seems fluffier.
 
You know it has been years since I have responded to a substrate thread. Never start a sentence with the word and. And I think it is about time I did.

Substrate sould be absorbant to absorbe liquids. It sould allow snakes to burrow as they desire. And is should not be toxic.

That pretty much covers it. Oh yeah, don’t eat it. Any Questions.

Don’t thaw fuzzies in Tequilla. Did you know that Tequila only has one L. I think that is sad.

LOL I thought it looked weird the first time :) Why can't you thaw fuzzies in Tequila? Is it because they are underage??? Can you thaw adult mousies in it?
 
I hate aspen. Big fan of newspaper. Aspen is way too messy. If it get all over the floor, you gotta break out the vacuum cleaner everytime. Arggh. Aspen sux
