Corns are not entirely nocturnal. They are mainly crepsucular (active at dawn and dusk) and I've caught my share on hot summer days-and it gets hot here; either on streets, basking on rocks, or just exploring through fields. I wouldn't personally let one of my snakes in the grass, just to avoid worst-case scenario but wouldn't think twice about carrying one outdoors in nice weather. That is if I you don't have neighbors that might get upset or brand you "that snake weirdo." Sounds harsh, but lots of folks accquainted with me have no idea there are dozens of snakes in my home. I pick pretty carefully who I tell, unless the subject of snakes comes up and someone is exaggerating to the point I can't restrain my self from informing them and have to back it up with experience. Jeez, I could tell you some outlandish things folks claim to have "seen" snakes do. But that's another post...
