Surprise double clutch

And weirdly great timing. The first clutch all molded, except one egg. That egg was supposed to hatch near the first of July, so yesterday I checked for movement and then slit, and like suspected, it wasn't viable. But it does appear the male carries amel as a het! I took the incubator down.

And then today I checked on everyone, and Lazza was in her hide with 5 obvious slugs and 2 white eggs. I had no clue, she's been eating like a pig and she tends to be hippy anyway. I plugged the incubator back in, put the eggs in, gave her a laybox to see if there's any more. It looks like there may be one or two bulges left, no idea if they're slugs or not. The two eggs are somewhat sunken in, but not so far I have no hope. Who knows, maybe I'll get ridiculously lucky this time.

Be cautious when interpreting colors of unhatched eggs- the color development is last, and can be misleading if the fetus isn't fully-formed.

Good luck with the new eggs!

The fetus appeared fully formed with no deformities. It just appeared to be unable to pip on its own for whatever reason. Which if it wasn't strong enough to pip on its own, there was probably a reason, but as best I could tell color had developed.
