Swimming snake?

Corny Noob

Proud Momma
I...err found something that I don't know I've seen the answer for anywhere else.
Sure snakes drink out of their water, even soak in it sometimes.
I just caught Nagini "swimming" in it. Most of her body was out of the dish but her front half was in the dish and she actually dunked her head under the water and swam around for a little bit.
Was she washing herself off or what?

Yea, she may have been washing herself but also could just be playing. Not all snakes "like" to be in water but they all can swim if you put them in it. She just might be a snake that likes the water. Its pretty cool to watch when they are swimming.

Mocha slides through hers from time to time and Hydro just drinks for now, and of course my new BP bathes.

Each snake has its preferences.

Cool that yours swims though!

She may be thermoregulating, as well. The water is cooler than the ambient temp of the viv, and she may have felt the need to cool off a bit. Or she could be feeling slightly de-hydrated, or preparing for a shed, or simply "playing" as someone else stated.

Got to laugh that the snake called Hydro is the one who doesn't swim... :grin01:

My snake only goes near the water to drink. Never seen any kind of bathing or swimming going on.
