I recently acquired a juvenile corn snake that is approximately 12 to 14 inches in length. I currently keep the snake in a 5-gallon terrarium that is 16 inches long by 8 1/4 inches wide and 11 inches tall. I use a 50 watt basking light during the day and a under the tank heater at night on the same side of terrarium. There are two hide spots on both ends of the terrarium and a water bowl/hide in the middle. My daytime temps are 88F on the warm side and 86F on the cool side. The nighttime temps are 77F on the warm side and 75F on the cool side. Also I am using newspaper as a substrate. Is this a good environment for my new corn snake or do I need to do some things different?
