Terrarium Screen Cover Clips

Are there any in existence that will not completely frustrate someone as non-mechanical as myself and won't take 6 hours to try to figure out? If anyone's got some good DIY ideas for making screens more secure, by all means feel free to make a DIY thread. The clips I've seen for retail online and in stores appear far too difficult to use and don't work well, going by user ratings.

People at the pet stores have told me to use heavy books on aquarium covers, which I understand is a big no-no.

How big's your snake?

I got the little, simple screen clips Petco had available. I dunno what they're made of, but they bent way too easily. I was wedging all kinds of crap under them trying to keep them tight. Eventually, I just took the darn things off and used those laser crystal things to weight down the lid. It works fine for Saga, but she's still small, somewhere around 50g. :p

The corn's a baby and under a foot long, and maybe a centimeter in body thickness if that. Those screen clips from Petco are a joke and I'm returning them. Like I said I'm not mechanical. I like things simple. There has to be a simple way to secure a darn terrarium screen--it's not rocket science, or is it?

Those screen clips are a joke. I've never been able to get them to work either. Since I'm not great at describing things, I just took some pictures of what we did with my two tanks that don't have locking lids. We just used those 3M strips, that you hang pictures and stuff with and some Velcro cable ties that we got at Walmart, supposed to use them to organize your cables. They were either $3 something or $6 something, don't remember now and you get a ton of them. The 3M strips are around $3 to $6 depending on how many you need. Here is the side view of the one tank with a top fitting lid.

Then the other tank, it has a sliding lid but it doesn't lock.

What the bundle of cable ties look like, sorry don't have the packaging and don't remember the brand.

Lycari, thanks for posting the links, the clips there look better than any I've tried. But your second link is returning a 404 error.

It's working for me now too. Must have been a hiccup with the site's server.

Tavia, I'm really keen to see your solution but the photos seem to have been removed - please can you repost them? Thanks!
