Thank goodness for cage clips (pic heavy)

Well, everyone warned me about corns being escape artists. I'm glad I listened and bought a lot of cage clips. This is what Henna is doing every time I go in after dark. See if you can spot her in the first two. The others are just show-off pics.

Lol I love it! Dream used to do that... In the middle of the night you'd hear a Thud when she fell, always scared me!

Yeah, she has taken little falls when she gets half way down. It really worried me at first but she seems to have suffered no ill effects. I guess they're tougher than they look.

I listen to the "plop" of my corn falling down from the rim of his tank every night. And every time he falls he just gets right back up. It used to worry me, but he's been doing it for 3 years now, haha. I have my tank secured with clips and a lock. He's not getting out!

This is a pretty small little lip on the tank with another pretty small lip from the lid maybe 3/4 of an inch above it, so it makes a yearling snake sized channel just perfect for her. Do you think she will be able to keep doing this even when she's full grown? Is that what yours is like or do you have a different set-up?

Our snow corn is a bit over 2 years old now, and doesn't quite fit on the lip in her tank. Doesn't stop her from trying though...we regularly hear her dropping back to the tank floor. Although she's stopped trying as much since we gave her a climbing branch.

The lip on my tank is bigger, because I'm resting the top of his tank on another top that was broken. It was one of those tanks that the top slides into. The original top was broken by my mothers fat cat sitting on it, so in order to get another top to fit the tank I had to rip the wiring off the original and put the new one on top of it. It sounds confusing, but anyways, it's a bigger lip so my big snow corn can still fit into it. He doesn't usually stay up there too long before I hear him fall down though xD

Oh okay! I was trying to envision a big snake clinging for dear life to a tiny crevice like that lol. Of course, the stuff my little one can climb blows my mind so I wouldn't be surprised to find out a bigger one can do even wilder stuff. And I've seen the local black snakes scale walls that don't look like they have anything substantial for them to push against.

BTW, is "scaling" as in "scaling a wall" a phrase based on snakes? Never thought of that! Anybody know?
