The importance of good record keeping.

Khaman

Headed for rehab.
I was going over my feeding records before I have my DNR inspection tomorrow (today since it is 3am now) and noticed that one whole shelf (three bins) of my yearling rack have been turning down food for a month. I split them up to different parts of the rack, finished cleaning, and then offered them food, all three ate. If I had not keep up with their feeding records and when they turned down food it never would have occurred to me that their position in the rack might be the reason they were turning down food.

Now I just have to figure out what is wrong with that shelf. I used the IR thermometer and got normal temps (78 on the cold end and 84 on the warm end after the flex watt shuts off) so that was not it. :realhot:

Wow, that is lucky, it just shows that it pays to keep records even if you do have lots of snakes. Have you found any faults or do you think it was maybe coincidence? I hope the inspection went well.

Khaman, Where I am from a DNR (Do Not Resuscitate)is bad. When do you expect to die????? Or is there something else it stands for in KY.

My wife (The nurse aide) pointed that out to me. DNR is Dept of Natural Resources A.K.A. game wardens

I keep detailed records on all my snakes although I use iherp now for that instead of books for each. When I had to bring my green tree python to the emergency vet for a prolapse, I was able to show her feeding, defication and shedding records all the way back to when I purchased her. I could tell her temps in the cage and humidity levels (although I don't record that, I know what they are). She was impressed, and it also helped her rule out certain factors that would lead to the problem.
