The Mixed Drink Thread

Jynx

Digger, RN
This is inspired by Fred's "Beer" thread. There are alot of us who enjoy some great cocktails, and I know I'm always up to trying more. So why don't we share our indulgences. Post you're favotire mixed drink recipes! They can be as simple as a Red Bull and Vodka, or as complicated as a Long Island Iced Tea!

I have an unhealthy love for Red Bull (sugarfree), so I can usually be found sipping on a Three Olives Cherry Vodka and Redbull, or a Jager and Redbull. One of my top mixed drinks is a good old fashioned Dirty Vodka Martini :)

3 oz Vodka - I like Stoli for my martinis
1 oz Dry Vermouth - I prefer Rossi
1/2 to 1/3 oz olive brine - I like alot of brine, though it can be hard to find sometimes

Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker half-filled with cracked ice. Shake well. Strain into a chilled martini glass, garnish with an olive, and serve.

for our asu tailgating we make a "devils-ade"
purple gatorade
sauza strawberry margarita mix
everclear

we just mix it in a pitcher, all eyeballing, but obviously the everclear is the least used.

Holy... Crap. Sounds like our Jungle Juice. We used to make it for desert parties in high school all the time.

20 Gallon bucket
6 Gallons of Hawaiian Fruit Punch
4 Two liters of Sprite
5 bottles of Everclear
Random slices of fruit

Those were some fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun times. You were never able to taste the booze, but all of the sudden you couldn't walk. :)

I gotta say I love my captain morgan and diet coke.
Captain and OJ is awesome also.
The spices in the Capt really compliment the OJ. I think is very YUMMY...LOL

cranberry juice and vodka. if you like good vodka, i suggest just drinkin 3 olives rootbeer vodka straight. it tastes just like a rootbeer. so good. cap'n and cokes are always good. jungle juice was always a favorite in highschool parties. my mom makes some killer whiskey sour slushes. tastes just like a normal whiskey sour just like a icee though too. night before first day of deer season every year we drink bloody marys. very spicey ones. so good. and cant go wrong with a margarita or a daqauri. and gin and tonics. thats my main mixed drinks.

I don't know if this is a mixed drink or not, but a friend of mine was talking about a "sake bomb". I've got some sake... what would the beer be which would complete the "bomb"?

This is my kind of thread! I love(d) drinking mixed drinks. I haven't had one in over a year (July 4th of last year. There's really no reason - I just stopped drinking. LOL) and i'm starting to crave a drink now. :)
My drinks of choice are Crown Royal and Dr. Pepper (If i've got money) and Captain Morgan and Dr. pepper (If I don't have money).
I also remember having a drink while I was in New Orleans a few years back called the Hand Grenade. I looked up the recipe, and it is as follows:

- 1 1/2 oz gin
- 1 1/2 oz grain alcohol
- 1 1/2 oz melon liqueur
- 1 1/2 oz rum
- 1 1/2 oz vodka

It was really good, and it tastes almost like kool-aid. I loved it. :)

My sweet favorites are the Buttery Nipple, Oatmeal Cookie and Midori Sour.
I also love Long Islands, Margaritas and Vodka and Diet Coke or 7-up.

A friend just showed me this one, sounds great, and it uses buffalo trace, which is the bourbon that I have been drinking lately and it uses the best thing ever invented: Bacon. I am going to have to try it.

from spiritmag.com

Bacon Old-Fashioned
Lance Mayhew
Beaker and Flask
Portland, Oregon

6 pieces good quality, thick-cut bacon
1 bottle Buffalo Trace bourbon (750 ml)
1/4 to 1/2 ounce brown-sugar simple syrup
2 dashes angostura bitters
1 small piece cooked bacon, twisted into a curl

Cook the bacon slowly over medium-low heat until all the fat renders. (Save the cooked bacon for another use.) Infuse the bacon fat into the bourbon using the fat-washing technique, which adds the flavors of a fat into the spirit. To do so, pour the fat into a large glass jar and add the spirit, then swirl together. Cover and let the mixture sit in a cool, dry place for three days to one week, then refrigerate for 24 hours. The fat will solidify and separate. Pour through a strainer lined with coffee filters to strain.

In a cocktail shaker, combine two ounces of the bourbon, the brown-sugar simple syrup (made by combining equal parts sugar and water and simmering over medium heat until the sugar dissolves), and the bitters. Add ice, shake well, and serve in a rocks glass. Garnish with a bacon curl. Makes one Bacon Old-Fashioned.

That just sounds disgusting, lol.

I like a shot of either blue curacao or amaretto in a pina colada. Buttery Nipples are also good. There are plenty of recipes for mixing Absinthe, too. Hmmmm, Absinthe.

The Screaming Orgasm gets my vote.

Ingredients:
1 oz Vodka
1 1/2 oz Bailey's irish cream
1/2 oz Kahlua
Mixing instructions:

Pour first vodka, then Bailey's, then Kahlua into a cocktail glass over crushed ice. Stir. Caution: use only high quality vodka. Cheap vodka can cause the Bailey's to curdle. Test your brand of vodka by mixing 1 Tsp each of vodka and Bailey's first.

Although there is a certain restaurant (706) which serves a drink called the Emerald Dragon, which is Midori and...something incredible, which on numerous occasions has caused a condition in me to make my friends rename the restaurant Blottos...

Cool thread

Totally loving right now

Three olives grape on the rocks with a couple cherries

Blueberry cosmo (blueberry stoli, cointreau and a very small splash of cranberry)

Rootbeer float (three olives rootbeer, vanilla stoli, and vernors) you can use rootbeer pop for this but it does sorta drown out the vodka's whereas the ginger ale sorta brings it out.

yummy stuff.

Here's my favorite, the Mango Margarita, Jenne-style:

Equal amounts of Mango Margarita Mix (liquid)
Raspberry Vodka
Frozen Mangos
Put in a blender with some ice, blend into a slushy and slurp it up!

I like most vodka mixed drinks...vodka seems to be my drink of choice.

I hate cola...so I stay away from cola drinks (like jack and coke)

And seven&seven's make me literally sick...after me and a friend polished off a bottle of seagrams and I was awake all night/morning puking until there was nothing left to puke...now even the scent of it...ugh.

I'm with you on the Vodka. Other than Jager and Tequila, Vodka is what I drink most.

The bacon thing sounds... um... interesting. I'm not sure what to think about that. I do know that I will have to bookmark this thread. :)

A friend of mine just sent me this. I'll have to give it a shot. I'm down for anything with Absinthe in it

Abomination
1 shot Hennessy Cognac
1 shot Absinthe
1 shot Hpnotiq
2 shot Melon Liqueur
1 shot Mint Schnapps

Pour all shot into mixer and shake with five or six ice cubes and serve chilled as shots

While watching "The Deadliest Catch", they mentioned a drink called a duck fart.

Equal Amounts of

Crown Royal
Baileys Irish Cream

We tried it and it was great!!
