The official Black Milksnake thread!!

I got a black milk today from Don Shores(Shores enuff snakes) :) He only put him up for sale because it was sold to him as a female, turned out to be a male. He's about a year old & you can only see his pattern in certain lighting. He's really mellow, after a busy day he still hasn't musked or bit.he's checking out his new home now :) Haven't settled on a name yet-

Gorjus! And don't worry about musking, these guys don't do that thankfully. Same with biting, just watch your fingers during meal time, they like their food...alot.

Ok that's good! we have a Cali. king & while she doesn't bite she usually tries to musk when we first get her out -stinky! lol

Yeah those Cal Kings are musk professionals, my Pueblans are right up there too and is never much fun dealing with that getting all over you. Thankfully you really don't have to worry about that with black milks, another reason why they are such rad snakes to keep as a pet!

We decided we like Magnus for his name-it means "Great" -I think he'll be big enough to live up to that lol :) or do we want to go with Draven?? can't make up out minds lol

What an extensive thread!

I am excited to add one of these to my collection ... hopefully soon! My husband knew I wanted one and decided to tempt me with a challenge. I have also been wanting to reach a particular health/fitness goal but I was losing motivation and getting discouraged. He told me to reach the goal and he'll get me a black milk. :) How could I refuse that?

I found a breeder and he currently has quite a few black milk babies that hatched not too long ago. Hopefully I will be adding a picture of my "reward" sooner than later!

nice photos

just found out about this thread, love the photos of them black milksnakes showing the color changes from tri-color to black, just amazing to see.

So glad to find this BMS thread. I just got me a baby BMS last oct 20 . He was born sept 14 of this year, got him weighed last dec 14 2015 at 68 grams . He's in blue now, getting ready for his 3rd shed in a few days since I got him less than 2 mos ago. Been feeding him 7 gram fuzzy every 4-5 days in a 20 gal long viv tank with sliding screen top . Cant wait till he completely change color to solid black in about 2 years time. Just love seeing those pics you guys have in here, makes me appreciate my black milk even more.

I randomly walked into a reptile store to look and thought about keeping a snake. I've kept fish for years and have had turtles and family dogs but I think a snake will be best for me in the future. After doing research and all I think my first snake will be a Black Milk snake. This will be months away from now but I'm excited about all of this.
