I totally agree but unfortunately that is the over bearing controlling gov we lived under. And barrel lengths are a ridiculous thing to legislate. It has no bearing on the guns capability (in general) only it's ergonomics. I believe with a class 3 license you can however own any length. They sell 10.5 barrels for the AR platform if you are licensed.

Guns make me nervous....probably because all it takes is pulling the trigger when pointing it in the right direction and someone could be dead....at least with weapons like swords and bows & arrows you need a bit more intent to do the deed....not so easy to accidentally kill someone with those.
But even so I think they're interesting and it would be neat to learn to shoot one

Interestingly I have been around guns for 40yrs and never even came close to any accidental shooting. I have been driving for about 30 yrs, 10 yrs less, and have been in 6 accidents (none of them my fault). I have also lost 4 friends or family members to car accidents. I used to be nervous around guns. But after someone tried to break into my house, I was more nervous about being unable to defend myself. So I bought a shotgun and learned how to shoot it and joined a gun club and got interested in handguns and my friends talked me into going to this match and now I shoot in two tournaments and do okay! Even get first place once in a while!! I just completed the NRA Range Safety Officer course a few weeks ago.
But you have to be careful- guns are just about as addicting as snakes...

I have been around weapons, literally my 24 years in existence, and the only time I have ever been close to being shot on accident was in Afghanistan. The guy in the room next to me was getting ready to clean his weapon, though he had cleared it, and "dry fired" right through my wall, I still have the flag that was hanging on the wall, bullet hole and all. It is lucky that I was not going to use the restroom, because the hole in the door was chest level, I would no longer be here, or IF I would, I would have issue's breathing.
But, do I let that incident rule my life on guns? Not a chance, I love the "dangerous" little buggers.

I got to thinking about this and you may be able to get the ATF tax stamp for an SBR. I have never actually done it or looked into it too much. I think you basically have to register the weapon with the ATF, pay the $200 tax stamp fee and wait for approval. I think there are restrictions that follow too. Might ask Rich or some of the other gun enthusiasts on here.

I have made some changes to the Rock River. I like the Operator stock better as it has a nice cheek weld. I like the angled foregrip (gonna keep it elrojo). I also mounted a vertical stubby. I tend to use the angled grip with stock fully extended and the stubby with stock collapsed. I do think I am going to cut off the rear sweep of the stubby so it will mount closer to the angled grip.
I don't care for the scope/green laser. I may try holographic red dot instead. I have also been toying with changing the front sight/gas block to a fold down and replacing the rear Elite sight with a fold down. I also want to add a single point sling.

I almost forgot my new White Hat holster. I have only had this a few days but boy is it comfortable. I chose White Hat over the more popular Cross Breed because the kydex is changable to any they make. So if I change carry I won't have to buy a whole new holster. (note the 'Constitution' kydex was extra but I liked it)
