I am armed with the knowledge that Shoestring knows how to eat. He's done so once, so there is reason to believe he will again.
After eating all by himself February 15, Shoestring proceeded to ignore his food, again, for the next several feedings. I decided to let him get good and hungry before trying again. Instead of trying to feed him again in four days (he's still hatchling size and eating little pinkies), I waited eight entire days. Tonight, Shoestring ate all three of his wee pinkies like they were cream filled eclairs. He even allowed me to watch him eat the last one without the towel covering his feeding bin.

I will try again in five or six days, after giving him time to work up an appetite. I would be thrilled with him eating even once a week, so long as he was eating on his own and I could gradually increase the size of his pinks. At least it put me in a good mood for the evening :)

Skooge is going home today. I've held off her feeding so she doesn't regurge, but I'll do one last photoshoot today before she gets collected. She has shed 3 times and whilst still small and with definate kinks in her tail, she's as fast as any hatchling at trying to escape, strikes at my hands to show she means business, and takes f/t small pinks with no hesitation.

Here's a selection of Skooge pictures, from her first days here........

She's beautiful LIL, You've done a wonderful job of bringing her back to being a healthy snake again! I just hope that if the comes that I have a problem feeder I can
find someone with the Patience and expertice you have!.. CONGRATS!

Congratulations Janine!
At last she doesn't look anymore like if she was squished between books :grin01:

/phew. I just read all 46 pages. Talk about a monster thread!

Awesome job on the two little ones and thanks to everyone who offered feeding advice. I think I was able to garner more helpful information/suggested tips on feeding in this single thread than in all the past one's I've read.

- Matt

Btw, Lil is beautiful. Almost jaw-dropping. :)

Thanks Matt. As I've said all along, I had plenty of support from this site. It's no exaggeration to say Lil wouldn't be here if I hadn't first e-mailed Kathy, then joined here.

hey guys
Just got Skooge home and shes nestling in her "bad taste" pink plastic flowers.
Janine has done an awesome job for Skooge, she looks really healthy and her colours are superb. Im happy to get her back. Again I cant thank you enough Janine, you're a great person :)

I hope you don't mind Janine, but I also want to show what TLC can do to a snake that is underweight.
When I got Hotei, he just came out from being sick and was looking triangular rather than rounded. I was not the one nursing him as it was Barbara (Blutengel) that did it as she was the previous owner. If it wasn't for her efforts, perseveration and dedication, I would not have one of the most lovely and mellow snake.

For anybody out there that has a "problem" snake, hang in there, they are so worth it!

Looks great, Vanina! Thanks for sharing. Barbara did a great job
Indeed, she did a great job getting him through the sickness
By the way, the first pic is how he was when I got him and the other one is how he was middle of last month ;)

Nah, I'm just a snake-whisperer! I'm glad you gave me the oportunity to help, and only happy to do so. I wasn't sure if I would be able to get her eating at all, but she's a tough cookie. (I'm sure the flowers are the real secret to getting snakes to eat!)
