Lil refused f/t Thursday, but took a fresh-killed hopper today. She's shed and has yellow showing along her neck now and the first hints of green in her saddles

I must say WOW!!!
I just read this entire thread, took me about an hour. It was kind of like watching a suspense on TV, with, of course, the happy ending

gosh, already on hoppers, for some reason in my head it was still pinkies.... don't our babies grow too fast....

I am still amazed by all the hard work, effort and determination that you put into saving your little Lil, you really are a Super Nurse!!!
(sorry, the "Wonder Woman" title was already taken :crazy02: )

Thanks Vanina, the hopper was the biggest she's had, really fuzzy is the ideal size but the mice grow so fast! have started another 1.3 mice breeders to try to get more regular supplies. No interest whatsoever in f/t, even with the zombie mouse dance. She's due a weighing next week when she's digested her monster meal.

"The zombie mouse dance" :roflmao: Have you tried Tango? It is Freya's favourite ;) Lil might prefer it to the Zombie dance?
Janine, you really crack me up woman! I love reading your posts, there is always some really good info as well as humour.... just great!

Maybe some day we could make you Knight of the "Syringe and Blender" :grin01:

Well this thread started off as a total cry for help, you remember I was so scared I was going to lose Lil that I was desperate. I also didn't want her suffering so euthanasia was on the cards too if she'd lost any more weight. Now i suppose it's sort of turned into Lil's blog, and I hope it may help others with refusnik snakes. I'll try harder to get her new colouring to show next week, I don't know how green she will get but it's amazing to me to look at her old pictures and think what she's been through.

Yes, I remember and I also remember how long you have been working so hard to keep her going and what the two of you went through. Not everybody would have done the same and would have given up after a few months.

Yes but I'm stubborn! My sister's neighbour has an 18 year old corn so I'm in this for the long haul, my kids have warned me that I will be known as the 'crazy old snake lady' by then, I'm looking forward to earning that name! :crazy02:

:laugh01:
My husband says that I will be known as "the weird snake woman" and he calls people that have snakes "weirdy snakey people"... :grin01:

I was being called wierd child way before i got my snake, my dad has called me that since i was 3 and i brought a grasshopper in to the house; Now starting to think he was right.

But whats the point of being normal?

Here's Lil not eating a f/t peach, the only live in both colonies are 6-day old pinks and I refuse to give them to her. She's 69 grams, so I don't expect she'll starve until they get a bit bigger

I don't know why she doesn't eat it, it looks very appetising :grin01:
Serious note, that is a bummer for you, up and down with feeding, that must be so frustrating:shrugs:

sorry if i am repeating but i read the first few pages of thread and then just skipped to the last 1, instead of grinding mice up, you can buy snake sausages, which are made of ground up mice and rats, i senn them in cathy's book, haven't seen them anywhere else yet though :shrugs:

To be honest, Vanina, now both mice colonies are producing, she's getting plenty of live feeds (stunned now they are hoppers). I just have to wait a few more days for the current bunch to get to the right size. If she never converts to f/t it'll be no biggie compared to the early days!
Conord, thanks, but I don't intend feeding any of my snakes anything but mice! The puree was so it could be syringed into Lil, but she is way past that stage now

Not being cheeky. .

. . .or owt but my name isnt connord, its connor, the d is the initial of my surname (downey,) and 94 is the year i was born

, Yes you are being cheeky
 I've got 3 teenage boys myself so you'll find my tolerance for cheek varies according to how much they've pushed their luck. Nice to meet you Connor, good luck with your new snake.

'94! My rosy boa is at least five years older than you, you cheeky little man. :grin01: (My sister has a Mexican black kingsnake named Conor.)

 Yes Dean, she is looking a bit tubby now, so I think I've got a bit of a chance to experiment with the change over to f/t. Am going to try the washed with soap approach tomorrow evening, and see what happens, as I haven't got live quite big enough for a few more days
