Hi! I'm a 10-year-old girl who just got my snake yesterday.I have wanted a snake for years! It is a male I named Pepperoni.:bird: I'm uber-excited about him. Since I don't know much about corn snakes I was hoping that maybe everyone could give me some starter tips.:)We got him a cage but he has already escaped once. But we fixed the problem. We got Pepperoni a warm side and a cool side. Thx!:wavey:

Here is a picture of Pepperoni:

Welcome to the group. I always tell people that the snake will be out so much more if they have vines and things to "hide" in. I always smile when a bright colored snake thinks they are hidden while in green artificial vines. But it looks like you already have that covered.

Welcome to the forum, Cassie! My sister is 11 and she now has two corn snakes. Your snake is super cute! He'll probably change color a lot as he grows, so make sure to take lots of pictures along the way.

You asked about information on corn snake care. Nanci has some good information in the 'stickies' at the top of her forum, here is her care sheet http://www.cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=95298

You can also look in the various sub forums here. there are TONS of posts and comments on all sorts of questions or concerns that people have had. You can also ask your own questions. Oh and always remember to log in to the site so you can see all the amazeballs pictures!!

I'm sure someone will recommend Kathy Love's book or Don Soderberg's book as well. There are other books out there as well but those two are the ones I see suggested most often. A quick search also turned up other books and ebooks .

Glad to have you here!

BTW: I use small slabs of granite to weight down the screen tops on the glass aquariums. (cut offs from behind a counter top store)

Thanks for welcoming me! Oh..... I have a thread in DIY Projects called Jungle Gym Construction if you want to put any advice in there if you have any. I would appreciate it very much!

I am 11 and I have had a corn snake for 5 weeks now and some quick tips would be to change the water every day
Handle him on a regular basis so he will become very friendly and always check the temperature is normal

I have a baby sister who can reach the Viv so if you have got a young sibling a lock is advised as they will escape !!!
