I am using the basic analog zoomed thermometer/hygrometer combo and i have heard that this is not the most accurate one to use so i was wondering which digital setups you guys use and where you got them from as i want to make sure i know the exact temp/humidity in the tank so i can do my best for the snake. Thank you.

Humidity isn't a big deal, especially if your snake's sheds are normal and in one piece.

I use a digital indoor/outdoor thermometer with a probe. You can get a similar model at any Wal-Mart or Radio Shack. The key is getting a unit that lets you measure the temp ON THE SURFACE. :)

I actually got my digital therms at the grocery store. they were 12 bucks if I remember, and work nicely.

I use a temp gun ($25) in combination with a thermostat (Herp Power Thermostat from Big Apple Herp); basically the temp gun is just to double check the thermostat now and then to be sure it's functioning properly. And I like the fact that it gives the temps instantaneously.

I use a simple surface thermometer, 2 bucks, keep one on the surface of the viv directly on the heating pad, which means it just sits there in the viv, on the floor. Not affixed, but the snakes don't disturb it too much. Works perfect for me.

But yeah. Good luck!

The digital temp units with a probe can be bought at Walmart for under $10 and are very accurate. The temp/humidity combo can be purchased for under $25. The probe gives you the advantage of taking readings throughout the vivarium at any location you want to place it. I also have a more expensive unit that is hand held with a laser attached. Whatever you shine the light onto it will give you the temperature for. Unfortunately it's only good for the temp and not the humidity.
