Hey again, I have two thermostats, a mat stat that works GREAT for Molly, and a white thermostat that runs both Damien and Sabrina's heat.. Unfortunately its a pain in the backside lol, it's normally perfect heat, but sometimes the temps go down to about 78, even though the thermostat is set at 88.

If i was to go to a general hardware store and by a normal thermostat would these work for heat-mats?
 
Actually, I'll probably just wait till my birthday "9th of April" and get a mat stat "the same one molly has" then I'll have 3 thermostats for 3 snakes, the thermostat I'm using for Damien and Sabby probably can't get 2 tanks to 2 temps..

But It would be nice to know if general hardware store thermostats work, for future reference.
 
Your best bet is to bite the bullet and spend $$ on a high quality one that's designed for reptile use. I wouldn't trust the hardware store ones. They aren't designed to be as accurate as the herp ones are.
 
Well, I just got myself a fair bit of ££, sold an old tank, so I'm going to spend it all on things I need for my reptiles, I'll get a good thermostat : )
 
I got everything i needed for my snake before i brought it!
It is the easiest way, prepare!

And sorry, i do not have any spare : (

I'll order a mat stat from the ReptileRoom website, It's supposed to be really good there.

Hey i bet you will miss that boring country side in a few years George. The Lake District is absolutely stunning. I used to live Workington, near the District and really miss it.
 
I know workington! It's not too far away! I'm closer to whitehaven though.. And trust me, I won't miss my town lol.. Everyone knows everyone, which means if anyone does anything everyone knows. Lol.
Also there are 0 jobs, and when one comes, its snapped away as fast as its there, lol. We are hoping to move into a small town near Preston though, not too far away, but not close enough for the city crowds.
