This headache is totally worth it.

Am I about to badger you all with even more photos? Yes. 3 Days after I got him (the amount of time I was told to allow), I took him out, and was astounded by the change. Nervous snake? Yes. Aggressive? By no means. I kind of figured he was a real sweetie just overwhelmed by such change, and I got my proof. He went from a flinching machine to just an all out sweetie. I said I would just show the ruler, feeding, and post-shed pics, but I'd like to show you what he really looks like, not just when we were both terrified of each other, and while he was completely oblivious in his travel tank.

Here is what first drew my eye to him, actually. His pattern really made me like him, making me choose him over a much more active Miami I also had an eye on.

Here is a close up of his head, the design of which I love. Both of my snakes love this bracelet, which is really the only reason I wear it. It's actually a necklace, but the boys seem to like it so much that I permit them to lounge on it a bit. It gives them extra grip, so they can reach out a bit farther.

Here is a full pic of his body, to give a better look at his size. The other picture of him in my gloved hand made him seem a bit smaller than he really is, but this picture is an accurate representation.

Here are two picture of his wonderful belly checkers (not very good, by any means) that some of you seemed to find interesting. Whatever they are, I adore them.

Here he is next to the ruler, which is an absolutely terrible picture. It's rather hard to hold a camera and try to take a picture of a snake who has absolutely no desire to stay in one spot. My mom and I guesstimate him at either 16 or 17 inches, though. At most he's 18 inches, but that's stretching it. So I guessed wrong the first time, but it was pretty close :)

And last of all, here he is exploring the cage while I am actually rearranging it a bit (he's a burrower, so I have to remove everything to find him). It shows he's got courage, which I REALLY like. Aris just hides :)

Watching me...

Thanks for watching! The last picture added will be a pinkie when he eats. I swear it this time. After that it's progression.

If you would like to get an exact measurement, download the snake measurer. You simple take a shot from above with the ruler, getting the whole length of the dorsal side. You then mark out what measurment you want to use and begin measuring your snake by placing dots all the way down the back, following the curves, it will then give you a measurement.

Hes a cutie! I love the markings and pattern on him. That sucks about the show but at least you h ave some close by. Here in Buffalo there is only one a year, about a hour away from me, and its in a cold fall month of all times. Im glad he calmed down though, my corn is the same way, the first day home she was hiding, exploring at night adn did not want anything to do with me. Now, 5 days later I can take her out and hold her, though she hates my roommate.
Cant wait to see more pics!
And thanks for the snake measurement link.

Ended up with the result of 19 inches :) Thanks for the link! I NEVER would've gotten his true size without it :)

I have a quick question... I weighed my snake and it said he weighs twenty grams...? Is this right? What size food should a 19 inch snake be eating? I`m going to feed him two pinkies today, since he definitely looks big enough, but I want to know if he should be on fuzzies or something. I think I need a new thing to weigh him on.

I had the same question recently and was told to look up the Munson plan. My snake weighs 20 gams also and does fine on 2 pinkies every 5 days (feed, skip 4 days then feed)

Their weight is more important than their length when it comes to figuring out what to feed them. He looks to me like he should be just fine on double pinks.

He's gorgeous, congrats! Only one of my snakes has belly checkers but they're light since he's a butter. I decided that I want my next snake to have some nice black ones since I love how they look. :)

I just put him in with the pinks, and whoever said he should eat well was 100% right! I put him in there, and about 2 second later he lunged at one of the pinks and was swallowing it down. He is a butt muncher :)
He hasn't taken down the second one yet, but he swallowed that first one down in less than a minute. Must've been pretty hungry...
And thanks, once again! Checkers must've been what I missed most about my normal corn snake x3 I just... love them. Odd, huh?

AH! Lmao! I'm trying to take him out and he's tail rattling and lunging at me! xD I love it! I'm starting to think he has multiple personalities... xDD It's kind of nerve wracking though, trying to get him out. YES, I know it shouldn't hurt, but no one WANTS to get bit xD

Sounds like a hungry little bugger! My Squiggle used to lunge & hiss when I first got her. I'm happy to say that she's outgrown it. I believe that I let her sit a bit longer in her feeding tub to give her time to settle down after feeding. :eatsmiley
I'm so glad to hear that he's doing so well for you. And I love the distinct checkerboard pattern of my Slither. Your baby has some really nice contrast there. Definately a cutie! Thank you so very much for sharing the wonderful pics...I for one love to see all the pics.

He shed about a week ago, his first time for me! I'm so happy :) One loonnggg piece xD
And then I fed him, which he wolfed down in about a minute or so.
This means he's gone for 3 weeks without handling, and boy oh boy it shows. He's a wild thing again, totally deserving his name. Here are his new and improved colors, without his head. He is, in these pictures, currently fleeing the pink, hairless demon that's shoving a silver flashy thing in his face. Poor boy.

I may try to get some better pictures later, but I don't want to stress him too much.

I've decided the name will be Spitz, for Spitfire. Because that's what he is, through and through. Crazy little thing. Everytime I blinked while I held it, it flinched. I'm going to let it go for a week before holding it again, I just wanted to get a picture for you guys to see his size:

And yes, I used a glove this time. I use it with all new hatchlings, since it seems to calm them down a bit x3

Haha I used my old black socks and that seems to calm my hateling down as well. But she still strikes the little demon I hope she grows out of it.

Mine rattled at me early, then he decided to strike at me while I started handling him, but he's small so it didn't hurt, just startled me. Like, Oh really!? I don't think so little man. Now you deff staying out for a few minutes... But he's a good kid once he gets used to bein out, he just likes to explore and I'm still scared to let him slither on me, cause he's quick. I gotta keep a hand on him at all times, but I loves him

Well, judging from those last photos he looks like he's in great shape in your care! He looks nice and filled out, but not too plump. Congrats on his first shed with you! That's very exciting. I'll be happy to see more updates of him, looks like he'll really be a looker.

Love the red on him. My next snake will be bright and sparkly. My anery is a sweetie; but I miss belly checks and flashing red forks.
