Great!! I fed mine after first shed, I'm not sure which ways right.... But he took it!! Any more pippies/hatchlings?

I figured it couldn't hurt to try. I'd frozen about 100 reds this summer in preparation for Pearl's production, each weighs 1g so is perfect baby food. (The excess will get used up for the pacman toad). If the pippie hadn't fed I'd have waited 'til after the shed for the next attempt.
No signs of change in the other 2 eggs. As Pearl took over a week to lay, I won't know when to expect them to start pipping, so any time from now to within the next fortnight will be within 'not worried' range

Makes sense. Interesting first clutch, huh? It's good expirience for the future IMO. Of course, update us when the others pip!

Just read through this whole thread, and I am so happy for you. I am going through my first egg experience right now. I had 9 total gravid, and the first to lay was all slugs, the second gave me 16 healthy eggs and only 1 slug. I am going nuts waiting for the others to lay lol. It's going to be twice as bad when its time for pipping. Congrats, and good luck. Maybe next year I will get to go through the breeding experience too. (got all my girls already gravid)

Congratulations Janine!!!
Been following this thread for weeks and Im soooo glad you got hatchlings after all Pearls trouble.
It's certainly been worth the wait to see your first pippy out and eating!

Well done once again and keep those pics coming we never get tired of hatchling pics.

'Number 1' has pooped and is going into blue!
And starting to make an appearence................'Number 2'!

And pippie number 2 has hatched. 10 grams again. Another normal het blood, anery and amel. As I picked it up I noticed the umbilicus hasn't closed completely. I've settled it into it's nursery tub on moist tissue paper for the night and will check it in the morning.

I can't get over the size of thse hatchlings!

After the day you've had you deserve 1.2 of those hatchlings so you can make yourself some nice amel bloods, anery bloods, and snow bloods in a few years!

:) Thankyou! I'm not sure why they're so big, Slim is quite the chunky boy, and Pearl had an incredible growth spurt after she got here, so maybe I'm starting a line of giant corns :grin01:
Just checked quickly and the herniated area on hatchling number 2 is unchanged, so I'll not feed it unless and until the area heals over.
How good is this forum? If I hadn't read Katie's 'prolapsed innards thread', I'd be panicing over this. To borrow a phrase, I'll see if the tincture of time heals the baby. If not then I'll euthanise it and Skeeter the integrade king will fulfil his other purpose as disposal detail
