Came across a Timber Rattler leaving work this afternoon. Thought I'd share:

And another:

Some nice pictures there. Silly thing shouldn't be on asphalt though... it means its too close to humans. I hope it was headed off in the opposite directions???

I prefer to see them in the depths of the wild, so stoopid people can't show how "smart" they are :(

He was just sitting there warming up I guess. The road is actually a very seldom travelled one, just the same I hope he moved along quickly. I wasn't getting out of the truck to shoo him along though.

My favorite rattlesnake, I think. THanks!

I believe mine is Crotalus lepidus lepidus
281901592_l-159x147.jpg

or Crotalus concolor
coc04.jpg

or Crotalus abyssus
coa01.jpg

One of these guys is my favorite, but not sure which one. As a note, I did take the first pic of a lep that I found, the other two pics are not mine.

I logged out and back in- now we can see one. We relocated a hatchling a few weeks ago that was having a little nap on asphalt like that, right in a neighborhood.

My favorite is the Pigmy.

Nice! Looks thin though. Wonder if it hasn't been eating well. Found one of those when I was looking at a house on 23 acres that we were going to buy. I would have bought it just for the snake potential but we ended up not getting it :(
