Hi everyone
My baby corn talla is around 8-9 months old and she is getting quite adventous, i know they shudnt go into another tank till they are a year old atleast but i was wondering if i could put her in there now? Ive had her since september and she has shed twice since then she is getting quite long too starting to turn a nice orange colour, What do you reckon guys?

You will get many different answers, but it all depends on your snake. If it's not shy and likes to roam, I would guess it will be fine in a new, larger home. Get it all set up, with plenty of cover and hides. Many use toilet paper and paper towel tubes for places to hide. Give your snake 3 days after a feed, then make the move and let it get used to it's new home undisturbed. I bet it will be exploring in no time!

I'd agree. As long as the new tank is escape-proof for her size (youngsters can squeeze through tiny-looking gaps) and has plenty of hides and ground cover, then give it a try. Larger spaces can spook some, but the majority will settle back into their usual routine in a few weeks. Expect her to behave slightly differently when she first goes in - they can either be more or less active than normal. This is fine and just part of the settling in process.

Hides are the key though. She needs to be able to move from one end of the tank to the other (warm to cool and back) whilst feeling that she's under cover and can't be seen.

I wouldn't feed her too soon after she goes in there. Maybe leave her in peace for a week (as you would with a new arrival) before offering food. If she's not used to the tank when offered food first, she might feel threatened and not feel safe eating.

I'm getting a couple of 20-gallon tanks for my 2010 hatchies this weekend, and I have absolutely no doubt that they're going to LOVE them. Pumpkinseed has been agitating for more space, as best a snakelet can, for a couple of months now. I think it really depends on the personality of the snake, and all three of my little ones really enjoy using all the space offered to them, and don't feel at all insecure being watched. As long as the little one has enough hides and nothing goes awry after you move her, she'll probably be fine.

Should you go from 10 gal to a 30 gal if the snake is growing fast? This is for the '09 snow not the dinky anery.

There's really no "should". In my opinion (which is never definitive!) you can go to as large a sized tank as you want, as long as there are enough hides and ground cover.

with it being Christmas, I just started thinking. You know those Wrapping paper tubes are nice and long and can be cut to longer lengths, just a thought I wanted to put out there.

Those tubes work well...try burying them under the substrate with substrate already in them...Makes a dark tunnel that your hatchling doesn't feel exposed in as opposed to one that's empty...
