Hi, all. Brand new corn-owner from AZ here; just bought my first two from a local pet store, two little beauties only about three months old. I'm still learning the terminology so the best I can say is that they're both albinos, red, orange and white, no yellows or blacks at all. One's mostly white with colored saddles, the other is much darker with a complex pattern and a hint of possible stripes. They've had their first meal here and ate readily, no problems. I do have a question, though... how often should I feed them? The pet store was feeding them once per week, one pinkie each, but I keep reading things that say to feed them every 4 to 5 days when this small. Suggestions? Thanks. :)

Hiya! And here's a pic; please pardon the terrible quality, it's from my phone, but there's my new two exploring one end of their vivarium. I have them in a 29-gallon tank with a locked screen lid; they seem to be really fond of the sandstone slabs I put in on the warm end.

On the feeding schedule I like the Munson Plan. You'll need a scale to keep track of their weights.

I also use the scale to weigh the meal. I keep track of all the weights, lengths, sheds and feedings in an excel spreadsheet.

^^^^^This. The Munson plan is a great resource, you can even let your babies grow a few more grams before starting them on the next size mouse, for some corns this might be too aggressive a plan as corns all grow at different rates.

One thing I saw you mention is that they live in the same tank. Not to scare you or anything, but corns definitely SHOULD NOT cohabitate! Even if the store had them together and told you it was okay, it is not. Corns are cannibalistic and eat each other. There is a sticky (many, actually, you should read through them all on all these topics) about cohabbing. Here is this particular link. http://www.cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=118184

Because of the size of the tank, you can buy a divider since they are still little, but you will definitely need a separate tank once they are big enough.

Please read some books on corn snakes, two that are highly recommended are by Kathy Love and Don Soderberg, both are members of this forum and both books will help you in the right direction with your new "kids".

Congrats, and don't hesitate to post any questions you have. There are no such things as dumb questions, only foolish owners who don't ask the questions!
