I Brake For Snakes
Ok, I have traded a few times with no problems. However this time I need some advice. I made a deal to trade a female ball for a male ghost. Because I can produce references etc. the other person shipped first. The snake got here today and is in good health however it is not female (had sperm plugs and probed male) and it is not the weight that was specified. I don't exactly know how to deal with this problem, if I ship the snake back I lose money and if I send the ghost I lose a lot more money. Anyone have any suggestions?

Exactly. Quick communication will hopefully resolve the issue. Maybe they sent the wrong snake by mistake? Maybe they thought it was female? I think it's their obligation to do one of the following 1) pay shipping to get the python back AND pay shipping to send you the right one 2) send you the right one and let you keep the male if they won't pay for shipping it back or 3) let you keep the male without the expectation of getting their ghost because they failed to uphold their end of the deal and they are responsible for making it right before you send them anything. If a simple "I think there's been a mistake" turns into an argument, I would provide photos showing that it's male and of it on a scale proving the difference in weight. I hope it was only human error and they will take the right steps to correct it.

I would say they should pay for shipping back but keeping their animal goes to far IMO. Hopefully it was an honest mistake. If it was not... ship it back... don't deal with them anymore.

Short, sweet, to the point. Emanon's solution gets my vote!

i can't tell you what to do in that situation, but i do hope you keep us informed on the progress.......hope everything works out. :)

Ok, here's the update. He finally called last night and from what I got it was an honest mistake. He was told when he bought the snake that it was a female. Since we do some distribution with a local reptile store I just sent him some money (the same amount that I can sell it for). So I guess in the end we came out even. But it has def. put me off on trades, at least ones that I can't do in person.... Oh well, lesson learned.
