Tree Boas and Pythons

Just to throw a totally new thought into the mix, milk snakes can be quite flashy...also, new world rat snakes are rather unique, beautiful to look at, active, and full of personality.
Cornsnakes might not be what he's after, but another colubrid may be something fun.
They're not arboreal, really...and you cant beat the tree boas/pythons for their cool factor. Black milk snakes are the ones that turn a solid black when they mature, are they not? Also, these guys would be well below your budget, I'd imagine.
