Two pinkies

Should I feed my snake two pinkies because of the size available at my local pet store?

Can you post pics of your snake for size comparison? Maybe one of the snake next to a pinky?
I feed by weight, primarily. You can also judge prey size by offering food that is 1.5 times the diameter of the snake.

If you are having trouble getting appropriate sized prey at the pet store, you can look into online sources to buy from.
Layne Labs allows you to buy smaller quantities, which makes it nicer for those who don't have a lot of snakes to feed.

I agree with Heather, you really should try F/T because it is less cruel to the mouse and prevents any horrible fight wounds to the snake.

What does your snake weigh? I would go from there and look up the suggested size of the prey from there.

I don't really have any way to weigh my snake, But thickest part of his body is about the size of a dime I would say I guess.

Okay thank you. And I assume they have those frozen from that place you suggested earlier right?

I would recommend switching your snake to f/t.
I really like Layne Labs. I have been ordering form them for a while now.

Some people thaw out the rodent in a ziplock bag, in water, I thaw them directly in water and them dry them off a bit (I put them on a towel before I feed)
Either way, make sure they are thawed out completely before giving them to the snake.

Also, get a digital gram scale and keep a journal of your snake's growth. Also include when he eats (or doesn't), when he sheds, is in blue, and anything else of note. You can find the digital kitchen scales at Walmart or on Amazon for cheaps.

Also, if you know any other reptile owners near you who feed mice, rats, quail, chicks or rabbits you can go in on an order, you can split the shipping and it is a better deal.

I bought a small little scale from walmart in the cookware section and it has a zeroing feature. I put a small container on the scale and then zero it out and put my snake in to get the weight, even though he squirms around the whole time, its really easy.
